If IRS provides a portal to file taxes easily, who do you think will pay for the infrastructure, support and staff? Government? Absolutely but how does government get funds? From taxes. Bingo!
Now the options are :
1. everyone in the country to start paying more Tax so IRS can build and support such system or
2. only folks who have higher income pay a private company to file taxes easily and low income folks file for free
