Outsource, buy cheap.
When are the main economic powers going to tax the origin of merchandize based on environment impact, labour rights and such metrics.
Putting a higher customs tax for lower rated countries can be a game changer.
Its even worse. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/mar/05/china-five-yea...

Thanks, cryptocurrencies!
An interesting aspect of China's green energy activities is the historic role that coal has played in the revolutionary imagery of the communist party. The coal lobby in the US is powerful, but not in nearly the same way
With all the ambitious infrastructural and technological move they did I am honestly surprised coal hasn't been replaced earlier.
A lot of people think that because China is bringing online record amounts of wind, hydro, solar, and nuclear power, they must be moving away from coal. But that's not the case at all.
China is very interested in mass producing solar cells, wind turbines and other tradeables for the export market, as well as using them internally. They need electricity from whatever source they can get it. Black coal, brown coal, it doesn't matter, it all goes into the furnace to fuel an energy hungry nation with few petroleum and natural gas reserves. It is a very rational energy policy that puts the strategic needs of China front and center.
