Does Facebook even allow you to delete your account? Last I tried they didn't have a "delete" function.
Yep, although they make you wait before it's actually deleted: https://www.facebook.com/help/224562897555674/
"Take the pledge to log off Facebook. (Don’t worry you don’t have to log out of your account right now.) Just by taking the pledge, you can get Facebook’s attention and show them that we will refuse to engage with their platform until they fix it."
Lol. I don't think Facebook cares about the protests of people who need to be reassured that they're not really protesting.

Literally. What a silly website. If they actually wanted to affect anything they should be encouraging people to delete their accounts.
Isn't that how fundraising works? You make people commit to "supporting your cause" with a trivial pledge, so that when you ask for actual money they can't back out without losing face.
"I will maybe log off at some point" sounds like maybe too weak a pledge to me, but I'm sure they've focus grouped the shit out this.

Oh yeah, also gives us your full name, email, phone number, and zip code.
Yeah if I'm the type of person who is tired of Facebooks misuse of private information, I'm not going to demonstrate that by giving away private information.

"Take the pledge and mark your calendars for November 10, 2021, when we’ll take action to log off together."
The website is silly indeed but the plan is to logout on november 10th. They'll probably send an email or something.

What a lame way to trick people to sign up to a newsletter.

It's his beloved creation, his toy, he's not stepping down anytime soon.

Why would anyone sign up to this, leaving personal information on a website for.. no reason at all? A massive coordinated logout doesn't need such data about yourself. There's also much better that can be done, but this sort of thing never makes a dent anyhow. Feels more like free sources of people to send mails and pamphlets to about the actual subjects the organization, Kairos, focuses on.
I haven't been on Facebook in months. The only purpose I have for getting the account is to prevent anyone else from impersonating me and to keep some contact with my family (my mom is literally glued to facebook). Once my parents pass away in the future (hopefully far future) then I'll delete the account because I have no use for it. If I want to shitpost, I got twitter and 4chan.

Can I not sign a petition anymore without signing up for spam?

“Don’t worry you don’t have to log out of your account right now.”
Wow. That’s intense.

This idea could not possibly be more worthless. Delete your account if you don't like Facebook. Otherwise stop crying about it
