It’s a bit premature to know if this is temporary or will linger over a decade.

If it lingers then this has precedent in 1960s Detroit and 1970s NYC where corps moved to suburbia. It happened once; it can happen again. A re-hollowing out of the cities due to mismanagement.

My understanding is that Newsweek is not the same respected magazine of old, so is there confirmation from another source?

New mayor and new DA are serious about fixing this. Will be interesting to see if they can do it with a majority-hostile city council.

(I just sold my house in Seattle a few days ago, so I no longer have skin in this game)
