Ask HN: Colleges with both good compsci and music
Hi there,
I am a high school student who is applying to college relatively soon. I am currently looking for universities/colleges that have both strong music programs, specifically for jazz, and strong compsci education programs. I have found a few colleges that seem to fit this, but my research has generally not turned up a ton of results.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

University of Miami's Music Engineering program is the most prestigious in the US for undergrad. Frost's Jazz environment is also excellent with numerous awards and great faculty.
The CS side kinda stinks but it's not hard to find a job in the music tech world with a degree from Miami. The alum network will open doors.

Columbia University has a dual-degree program with Juilliard, I can put you in touch with a few of my friends who did that (with a CS degree on the Columbia side)
University of Southern California ranks high (top 10 or 15) in both.
Berkeley
Harvard and MIT have a strong CS department and the students can cross-enroll at Berklee College of Music. If you can get into Berklee, there are a lot of other university options in the Boston area (Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, Tufts, Boston University, Boston College).
I've looked into this - unfortunately the Berklee and MIT/Harvard dual degree program only applies for bachelor of arts degrees from what I've read. I could be wrong but that's all I've seen about it
Check out Harvard/NEC - I am a current student at H and a lot of people I know have great things to say about it.
