Indeed, it makes a lot of sense too given that Anthropic was founded by people who didn't feel OpenAI was taking safety/alignment seriously enough.
A different way of saying this might be: "Some people care more about principles and personal values than money"

Yet another different way of saying this might be "extrapolating from an extremely small sample allows me to get a story out that might drive reader engagement".
Are the rumors of $100M packages real? I find it hard to believe Meta would pay ICs more than most SVPs.
