My friend's company is actually struggling with a "bot attack" at this very moment. Someone has about 100 bots who are tweeting malicious and untrue messages about the company. It's really obvious that these are bot accounts, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get rid of them. We've tried reporting them and contacting Twitter, but they are still there, tweeting away.
These are obviously 'bad' bot accounts, but there's no indication of when, if ever, Twitter will get to them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle such a scenario?
Yes, they are malicious and libelous. It is a smallish company (< 100 employees) so they definitely don't have the budget to take on Twitter. The turnaround time on that might also be so long that the damage will already have been done.
