it's not because of hardware acceleration at all. It's actively preventing the window to be captured (I believe iTunes does some similar). It uses a private API and an example is here:
what do the AT&T vans connect to? I assume that there is no landline available for them to hook into, so how are they providing service?
my guess is satellites or communicating with other cell towers but the latter seems counterproductive as it would push a high load to a different cell tower. but if they used satellites, wouldn't there by high latency and bandwidth limits?
where does it say that the phone will retail for $50? The author implies it and refers to the phone as though he was actually able to obtain one for about $50..
couldn't they be using this to prevent/detect spam?
edit: the article claims this can't be so because the page only does a HEAD request, though a HEAD request could be useful if you wanted to detect an HTTPS domain with ephemeral pages (which perhaps, could be a good feature in detecting spam domains)
You're working on the front-end development for a chatting website. Each conversation gets it's own 100x200px div and they are placed on the screen such that two conversation windows are never intersecting.
We want to display a new conversation window, write an algorithm to determine where a conversation can be placed such that it does not overlap with any current conversations. Assume that the website is being displayed at 1024x1280px.

How are you expecting to get a ton more after 20 years? Even with a ridiculous constant real interest rate of 5%, you'll get only 2.6x your original investment after 20 years.
