Welp, it was only a matter of time. Thank you

I go everyday but started just using Sundays for walks outside.

30min resistance and 30min "Jeffing" (called the run-walk method, run-walk-run).

Saturdays since I have more time 1:30hr resistance, 1hr-2hr cycling outside.

Eating healthy is also important, cook for yourself always. Meal prepping saves so much money.

I think time is also against me and life is moving quickly that if I don't spend everyday on body and mind its a wasted day.

Meh, I took a couple Hugging Face courses, I might not take them again.

The grading system forces you to write specifically to pass their LLM grading system, terrible design. Maybe its gotten better I had to constantly look up how to write the correct answer just to pass their automatic grading system. Not a good way to learn and time wasted.

Karpathy videos posted here are GOLD.

Great resource Jeremy Howard is awesome, I have been waiting to take this course and follow along because anything older than a year in Deep Learning is already outdated. I hope they release a new version.

Eh I am still not convinced that this will be good UI. I wish they would have put a one 1px white border around the glass UI button elements or something small like this to enhance it just a little better. I will have to use it to really get a feeling... Also that switch toggle shown in the video looks weird its so satisfying turning on/off a switch UI element without anything else interfering with such a simple concept.

I have liked MacOS UI upgrades over the years though, I am glad we don't use the brushed metal anymore :)

I agree, this only is useful for passive learning from watching lecture videos, which is not an ideal way to soak in the material. Even if the quizzes and assignments are just instructions id be happy to experiment on my own.

Yeah! Unfortunately at the time I had gotten laid of from work so I had extra time just not extra $ to keep paying monthly subscription, also some courses still said coming soon at least the ones I wanted to take when I was taking M4ML.

Good Luck with M4ML its a great course! Covers a lot, I was impressed, wish there was some videos or more visuals but it doesn't hurt to use youtube. I took maybe 7 pages of notes on my github and each over 4000-8000 lines (I used the notes to do the step by step exercises it was easier for me to type notes and do the exercises on computer than pen and paper this is what I used to do).

I take the notes because I will probably forget, but I think its key to always be learning and keep practicing even when your done the course.

Once I get hired again I will def take Discrete Mathematics. In the mean time I've just read books on ML and LLMs, free online courses, youtube videos etc.

Great post! It's always interesting to see the experiences of fellow peers going through Math Academy.

It took myself 2 1/2 months to complete Mathematics for Machine Learning on Math Academy last year (2024) working through reading material, taking notes, and completing all the exercises took all day everyday I loved it, this was after I completed Khan Academy (starting from the beginning of mathematics negative numbers, to the end differential equations) because I kept putting it off for years when I got to busy.

The main thing for me was learning not to get too frustrated when getting an answer wrong. If I made a mistake, I focused on understanding what went wrong, looking up youtube videos on the topic if it was confusing, and then trying again.

At the end of a lesson I wish I had someone to bounce questions off of but thats when I used chatGPT.

Congrats!

You're definitely not alone. (I am glad you're writing this because I thought I was alone here as well)

I am currently applying to ~15 jobs a day starting late Sep till now mostly on Linkedin. I know it might not be the best time to look due to holidays. When wake up the next day finding 3-5 "decided not to move forward" So then I think theres something wrong with my resume? So I update it a little each day, its an unless cycle I have probability done this 50+ times now? Also seeing 100+ job applicants even after the job posting has been up for only a few hours.

Also approaching 2 decades of experience, also white American (they always ask on applying). I have a bachelors degree but its in Interactive Media taught myself everything else.

I am one month away to moving back home with my brother because I can only afford another one month rent on Credit Card until its maxed out.

Free time I just spend it learning learning learning, and an hour gym routine helps with stress. I try not to think about the situation that I am in or the job market.

All we can do is try our best everyday, theres only so much we can do and stressing out is the worst thing for the mind/body.

Thank you for this post.

I use LLMs sometimes to understand a step by step mathematical process (this can be hard to search google). I believe getting a broad idea by asking someone is the quickest way to understand any sort of business logic related to the project.

I enjoyed your examples, and maybe there should be a dedicated site just for examples of code related to the web that used an LLM to generate any logic, the web changes constantly and I wonder how these LLMs will keep up with the specs, specific browsers, frameworks, etc.

I primarily focus on front-end technologies; however, I have also developed projects in mobile development, backend systems, and participated in a hackathon where I created a machine learning project using Python. Currently in my free time I have dedicated significant effort to advancing my mathematical knowledge not just for machine learning, but also to understand the world a little better.
