Ah yes I remember in 2001 reading on Slashdot how only old Christians voted for Republicans/Bush, and they will soon die and George W Bush will not get re-elected.
It was even said on HN/Twitter during Covid 2021, how Trump supporters were dying in great numbers from refusing face masks and it was again Game OVER for Republicans, only for him to get elected again in 2024.
On Firefox, this extension doesn't ask to run on all domains that you visit, only the news sites it bypasses paywalls. For example I visited deepl.com now and it doesn't have permission to run.
That's the default, but Firefox does offer toggle to give it permission to run on all pages you visit, I never clicked it (never seen the need to).
Also for Firefox, Mozilla banned it from their extension store (like Chrome did) after a legal threat from news publishers, but they still have to sign the extension and approve every new release even though it is distributed outside the Mozilla extension store now.
I looked into buying my own IP space from that IP auction site, an IPv4 C-class costs around $10,000. What stopped me was finding out I also to register with RIPE and pay the LIR annual fee, costing hundred Euros per month or so, even if I wasn't yet ready to use the IP space (I wanted to setup a basic Anycast IP without Cloudflare with help of VPS host who said they can help and had multiple locations around world).
I've used it as a 2nd browser for past 2 years although on Speedometer benchmark it constantly gets a much lower score than Firefox. You can feel LibreWolf slower it on heavy sites like YouTube.
I also notice Chromium browsers get lower score than official Chrome binary. Apparently Google make further modifications to Chromium before compiling (that they don't make public).
Yes that's all I do, official LineageOS image for Pixel 6 (I bought it used on eBay).
I haven't tried it but apparently Aurora Store also supports login with your Google account, which means you can download apps you've paid for on the Play store directly.
I install MicroG (on my LineageOS on Pixel) which allows me to install my UK banking apps and Google Maps, etc. MicroG just reimplemented the Google APIs:
> microG GmsCore is a free software reimplementation of Google's Play Services. It allows applications calling proprietary Google APIs to run on AOSP-based ROMs like LineageOS, acting as a free replacement for the non-free, proprietary Google Play Services (sometimes referred to as the more generic term "GApps"). It is a powerful tool to reclaim your privacy and freedom while enjoying Android core features (although apps you use that take advantage of it may still be using proprietary libraries to communicate with microG, just as they do when communicating with the actual Google Play Services).
Also, I download apps (like my UK banks) from official Play store using Aurora Store, which connects to Google servers directly to download the APKs, keep them updated, etc. No need to use those dodgy APK websites. Aurora Store is itself also available on F-Droid too.
