This is why I continue to pay a premium for workstation/server grade hardware even when I'm assembling the system myself.
Indys weren't truly that slow. The problem was the base models were memory constrained to the point where IRIX could barely boot. 16MB was not enough, and IRIX 5.x had memory leaks that made it even worse. An Indy with 96MB+ will run IRIX 6.5 pretty well.
Please provide a source. If you're the primary source, please present your findings and methodology.
Workplace discrimination like this already illegal and pretty well enforced in the US, so if it's true where are all the lawyers lining up to take the easy cases?
