China's oil consumption is pretty insane when you consider how invested they are in solar. I guess oil does have the benefit of being fuel as well as storage and can sit in a Tank for a long time without losing any energy. But consider that China is the biggest buyer by far from several oil producing nations. In fact OPEC+ has tied oil prices to the Chinese economy for a few years now. Chinese demand for energy is ludicrous.

Life is so bad for so many Americans that cheap escapism with a high chance of death is worthwhile. Thats the problem in my opinion because these people are creating demand for something nobody should want in the first place.

Health is the one issue that might get people treading more carefully again, between alcohol and drugs the US death toll is tremendous and it is leading to numerous problems on all fronts.

Of course if you could kill demand for this stuff that would be the ideal solution, if nobody uses it then there's no problem at all. But poor mental health and people working a full time job and still needing welfare cheques means this isn't something any politicians will even bother trying to overcome earnestly. Its just absolutely ridiculous that the US population is collapsing without immigration and yet so many people in the US are dying like this. Its like a bad comedy.

Its not a joke, just to clarify this isnt my belief. I am telling you why Zion is worth so much to some people. In Judaism there will never be an end of days unless the final temple is built on Mount Temple, even for millions of years. But the issue is that if we try and speak logically to both this nation and its backers we will never win.

Noticed how little sympathy the people in Palestine get compared to people in Ukraine? Why do you think that is? If I was to say the Palestinians are Arab savages I would be reprimanded for being prejudice but making excuses for their continuing genocide isnt prejudice?

These commenters are just articulating the same venom that their parents and grandparents did, in a different way but its the same bile fundamentally. Preaching logic to hateful people that think they are superior makes as much sense in 2024 as it did in Malcolm X’s day. Dont bother trying to talk logic to people like that, they dont listen to your kind.

I was just trying to make a joke about racism because of the thinly veiled racist viewpoints in pretty much every post here but I guess I picked on the wrong guys. Okay I'm done, sorry.

The number 8 at the end of is a reference to the 787 because the 787 contributed a lot of technology to the 747-8. The 747-8 is not an old 747.

Maybe its the only known planet because we dont know many other planets though. The universe is a largely unknown quantity and aside from the Asians space isnt interesting to most people anymore.

For Zionists that isnt just land, its the land they got from god after Moses freed them from Egypt and split the sea to get them out of there and then close the sea on the pursuing Egyptians.

The point of reclaiming Zion is to ultimately reclaim Mount Temple to build the Final Temple and usher in the end of days and an eternity of paradise.

One of the strange things with Israel is a lot of people that are pro Israel dont know anything about the nation. Ignorance usually breeds hate and not love. Or maybe being darker skinned is the key.

Im guessing that's like saying they are hired by the Russian equivalent of the CIA and following direct orders from top Russian officials?

The model numbers dont have anything to do with age in general, they were supposed to refer to tht type of aircraft but when Boeing was feeling confident it would give its future jets bigger numbers to imply improvement or advancement but then when the newer jets started having issues they would adopt modifications of older naming schemes to reassure customers. Over the years that left the whole scheme in tatters.

Its a 747–8, the 8 referencing the Dreamliner plane that is the backbone of a lot of Boeing's current fleet. These planes are relatively new and cost over 400 million a piece dwarfing the 737 Max 9s 120 million. They are really something to look at if you ever get the opportunity but given their enormous size and air travels recent trials and tribulations, a lot of airlines opted for smaller and cheaper planes so this monster is used for cargo mostly. Not an old plane or second class by any stretch of the imagination though. Its probably the plane I enjoyed looking into more than any other out of Boeing's current fleet.

Boeing intentionally spread its operations to as many states as possible in the US to guarantee itself some level of privilege amongst a large number of politicians from both major parties. There are clearly downsides to having manufacturing split up like this but the decision wasn't made for its engineering perks. Boeing is a sinking ship but nobody is eager to rock the boat lest their part of the ship take on more water than the others.

Generally speaking anything that cant be extracted profitably will be left behind, depending on the circumstances metals like iron and copper will even end up being discarded in some places. What ends up in a mines slurry might vary batch by batch. Then theres the fact that some things are only dangerous when in gas or dust form or are benign unless in very high concentrations. Sometimes there's a reaction between multiple things in the slurry that leads to the danger. Other times the slurry might be benign until it reacts with something where it is dumped. Acidity and deoxygenation can cause bigger problems than even very toxic mining waste in some circumstances.

Consider that for every kilogram of usable Lithium we extract we need 170KG of raw ore which requires us to remove 1600KG of material. With Platinum we are moving 670,000KG to get a kilo of the metal. The waste vastly outweighs the end product but the end product is where the money is so we know little about the waste aside from that it needs to be disposed of.

The government consulted the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research to run a study and they did and concluded it was a bad idea. The government and court in turn decided to ignore their consultants... I expected better from a judge at least.

Boeing spread its operations over as many states as it could some time ago so any changes made to Boeing would impact a lot of politicians, changes that leave some losers and some winners will be fiercely contested. Its clearly a situation that requires some sort of change but since the government became involved with Boeing, things have gotten worse. Maybe the decline is not associated with that change in particular but I feel very sceptical about further government involvement being a cure.

Boeing is just too integrated in too many places to interfere with. The governments of both Republican and Democratic states would need a comprehensive agreement to even consider making small moves on Boeing. Thats the issue, the biggest fight isnt with Boeing itself but the stake holders and beneficiaries. Boeing are very astute when it comes to business, they covered their bases well long before this drama started.

I would imagine the windshield is a recently manufactured replacement rather than the original article. There was a more recent 787 that suffered from a cracked windshield last December in London too.

The thing that really surprises me is that the regulatory bodies arent catching this stuff either, safety standards are not mutable.

Man.. if I hadnt seen it I wouldn't have believed it.That is absurd. How the FAA keeps approving this junk from Boeing is even more concerning than how bad Boeing manufacturing has become.

I would wager that most Chinese people fear racism and prejudism towards them more than Ma considering how common and politically popular Sinophobia has become again. Ma is still a billionaire, his position is not attainable for most no matter how they look at it. But Sinophobia is a household thing now.

The fact that they are using Instagram as a control in the study is hilarious. The standards in these universities are laughable.
