Let's hope he's a lot more careful with the chemicals than the early chip makers were. Most are now Superfund sites:

These are just the semiconductor manufacturer names I recognize offhand. Many more companies on the full list:

   Advanced Micro Devices
   Fairchild Semiconductor
   Hewlett-Packard
   Intel
   Intersil
   Monolithic Memories
   National Semiconductor
   Synertek

there have been a few rare cases of reinfection

I don't think the word "rare" applies any longer. Reinfection is becoming more common. Here is some info CDC released a few days ago: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/21/health/vaccine-nursing-ho...

An unvaccinated health care worker set off a Covid-19 outbreak at a nursing home in Kentucky where the vast majority of residents had been vaccinated, leading to dozens of infections, including 22 cases among residents and employees who were already fully vaccinated, a new study reported Wednesday.

Who’s going to pay for that?

The "Imperial We", obviously. Goes along with "someone should do something ...".

It's true it would be nice to keep copies for posterity, but it's not realistically possible to archive everything created for all time.

OTOH, state actors like the NSA should be archiving lots of things like this, because "you never know ...". But, unfortunately for us, a meme from years ago nailed this: "My computer hard drive crashed. NSA won't send me their backup copy."

If you're logged in, all you need to do is click on the "9 hours ago" field of the comment. That takes you to the individual comment, fully visible. So it's only one extra click to read.

This unfortunately doesn't work if you're not logged in.

I'm not sure about "super-fast" since, every time I visit twitter w/o JavaScript, I'm forced to click thru the message:

We've detected that JavaScript is disabled in your browser. Would you like to proceed to legacy Twitter?

And this annoyance persists. Click on a twitter link within the twitter website and you get the message again. And again. It's definitely a dark pattern meant to annoy you into enabling JavaScript.

college coincides with the most callow years of your life, when you scarcely know the value of time, or the opportunity you are about to squander

THIS IS THE BEST COMMENT YOU WILL READ TODAY, IF NOT THIS WEEK!!!!

Sorry for the all caps, but "truer words were never spoken".

So, anyone reading this who hasn't gone to college or who hasn't yet graduated, heed those words.

You will thank the poster perhaps 30 years later.
