Well, from recent experience they could make “npm audit” usable without having to use a third party library like “better npm audit”. There’s no filtering or configuration at all. There are so many unimportant or irrelevant vulnerabilities reported that I have no doubt that people just ignore auditing because they don’t consider the 1000 high severity DoS vulnerabilities they can’t ignore relevant for their CLI app. =/

The tradeoff for security is usability and the worse the usability gets the more people fight back against it.

One who needs a good, steady paycheck at a stable company? Just because hiring team doesn't have time to learn/apply a specific piece tech on the job doesn't mean they're low performers or less competent than the interviewee. They can be sufficiently busy with their current jobs and need someone experienced to lay the groundwork for others to run with. People that go and implement stuff when they're already busy usually half arse it. Those people are just creating issues that'll be fully realized months, years later.

If you say you know tech X, manager wants to hire for tech X to solve a business need, and I'm asked to help interview, I may ask you questions about things I don't know or do myself because it's my professional responsibility to my employer and manager to help them hire a quality candidate. Maybe some people use the interview as a place to be jerks or show off but that's not always true. Personally I'd rather not be involved in the process at all.

Or they don't have the time or manpower to fix/learn things and are trying their best to hire someone to help right the ship before bringing you onboard. Such a negative take.

Fortunately mine have not but at a certain point they're useless because no matter no low the scores go nobody in their right mind wants to provide long-form feedback to identity actionable fixes because product teams are usually small even if there are a lot of developers in the pool your pain points will be unique to what your working on.

Not nearly on the level as what is being suggested but my company has had several anonymous surveys and I started thinking about writing style when taking them. If you're prone to certain phrases, words, use of contractions or lack thereof, especially when the pool of people is small and you're providing critical (but needed) criticisms, you could potentially be identified by your immediate supervisor. Introducing typos and avoiding phrases you commonly say, adjusting your "tone" is a lot of effort when you can just disengage entirely and/or behave like everything is public (which it may as well be at this point).
