They don't say it out loud. But they act based on that principal.

I think its somewhat reasonable that he knew it had short term issues at high concentration but believed that the body would flush it out on its own. And not that any exposure caused permanent damage.

This was probably downvoted due to the mention of GMOs but I think it is not unreasonable to be concerned about these. Most seem to be perfectly fine but one that seems most concerning is GMO roundup ready crops, not because of the GMO, but because they are being sprayed with a dangerous chemical which seems to cause cancer.

Hot liquids are the worst. I find that takeaway coffee is disgusting because the coffee smell is replaced by the smell of melting plastics.

No one wants apps to directly interface with hardware. Imagine loading up a notes app and it directly trys to interface with your hard drive using its own built in FS driver and a bug in that causes your whole drive to be wiped.

Or that you open two programs at once and they try to access the same device at once causing some kind of error and likely data loss or system instability.

I don't even want apps to directly have access to the file level interface of my storage but rather an extra abstraction which lets me pick which files it can access.

I'm increasingly seeing the value of Apple style products where almost every part of the device from the hardware, to firmware, to OS, to UI is all from the same company.

The whole combined experience just makes things run so smoothly and allows security issues to be patched since Apple has the resources that maintain each part internally.

Nextcloud works decent for normal file stuff but doesn't really have a solution for photos. You can turn on the auto photo sync for a folder but after a few thousand files it gets unusably slow.

The speed of Google photos is actually breathtaking. The fact that you can instantly lag free scroll through tens of thousands of images and it all just loads instantly is quite impressive imo.

The problem with some of the competitors is they do not treat photos as its own thing separate from files. I think google did a great job understanding that photos are not just a folder of files but that they require their own dedicated software.

So a competitor to google docs / office?

Because Google would have more dedicated to the software/sales/datacenters/etc for Google One/Drive/Photos.

They need to compete with what the competition is doing.

Similar experience. I pay for the 100GB Google one plan which comes with the excellent google photos service and I went to see what dropbox offers and found their cheapest plan was extremely expensive comparatively and they offer less features. I'm just not sure how they even compete at this point when they do the same thing as every other cloud storage product but cost more. And you even have to pay extra for family sharing which is just free with Google.

Works for my workflow. I work on reasonably small files (my whole cloud storage is about 20 gb) and I like to have the storage available in my file manager at all times. Wouldn't want to run proprietary software or waste memory on it.

The biggest problem I have with these 3rd party clients is sometimes things just don't work right. Like for example gimp just fails to open files in the synced folder (google drive not the OP project) until I copy them out and open them. Not sure what the issue is though.

Google uses AI to pick out the highlights from the junk. Loads of factors to use like the geotag to show this looks like a holiday, this is a photo at the beach vs this is a boring photo of a desk.

So there is a load of data but ever improving AI will get better at showing you the cool stuff.

Google photos does a great job of this. They assemble albums of "This is what you were doing this week 6 years ago". They are pretty cool and a regular source of "oh wow I remember that"

Focus mode is better because you do not get distracted at all by the ping. This allows people to send you a message at any time and you will see it at some regular interval. I'm fine checking messages once an hour but currently they come in at random times regularly. One 10 message ping is much less distracting than 10 pings.

I would much rather someone press a button to say "This is very important, send it now" over calling me where I have to scramble to turn off my music, put my headphones on, etc before answering.
