Actually the modal behavior is pervasive in this application which is very irritating. Hopefully the GIMP devs can fix this. I opened the app on my 13" MBP and the tools all persisted to take foreground. Meaning, all other applications stayed below the GIMP. I can't use it like this. Oh well. But, I a looking forward to it being fixed.

They, the authors of the article, have a correction prepended stating that the study was not focused on high-fructose corn syrup but on fructose in general. So, why can't they change the title of the article if it is mileading?
Depends on what you mean by Lisp. If you are just referring to "a lisp" I would start looking into Clojure (http://clojure.org) and some of the frameworks around that. I don't know of any "Rails" equivalent... but you can get close using:

Don't forget there is also ClojureScript (https://github.com/clojure/clojurescript) so you can even write your client-side code in Clojure also (compiles to JavaScript).
Why doesn't the title mention Google also? Shouldn't it be "IKamsutra: Apple and Google hate Brunettes". Do people get more clicks on this site when the attack one company and not another? Yeah, I am a fanboy, but still...
People have to remember that the App Store has nothing to do with "Freedom of Speech". Every retail outlet decides what products they wish to sell. They all have buyers that decide which products will compliment or negatively impact their reputation.
I do believe Apple owes the makers of IKamasutra an explanation, even if it is short, like: "Company A provided us sufficient information to warrant removal of your software", or "Updates to your software made it too explicit and violates the App Store guidelines". It guess its just too costly to do this or something. This does suck for someone that has had something out there for a long time and now its gone. Perhaps it wasn't another company, and the reviewer just thought "Not another one" and that was it.
I haven't searched, but I wonder how many of these apps are in there? Even the App Store (TM) guidelines mentions Kama Sutra apps:
"Apps that duplicate apps already in the App Store may be rejected, particularly if there are many of them, such as fart, burp, flashlight, and Kama Sutra apps."
The other funny thing is that the next statements also says:
"If your app is rejected, we have a Review Board that you can appeal to. If you run to the press and trash us, it never helps."
So, I suppose you screw yourself by blogging and telling everyone. Biting that hand that feeds isn't always a good thing.
But, there is also this:
'Apps containing pornographic material, defined by Webster's Dictionary as "explicit descriptions or displays of sexual organs or activities intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings", will be rejected'
So, perhaps getting closer to actual people and not the original crude wood carvings is an issue. I'm surprised these app ever made it in with that clause. The Kama Sutra fits this.
Seriously? That's like saying if you thought of the code, wrote it down on paper or started off as UML diagram that it would be invalid. I hope you were kidding.
Plus, it probably makes Varnish worthless in this environment (I'm sensing bias here). I suppose the author doesn't like purchasing goods and services over a secure connection either.
I bought the app 5 minutes after I read about it here on HN. I already dig what it is going to do for me. I don't plan on doing any major custom controls, but I do have a few ideas that will work awesomely with using this tool. I had just recently been struggling with some ddrawing operations. If this thing saves me a few hours of work and frustration, it is totally worth the measly $80. Amazing what you can do with a 2MB binary.
I cloned the Clojure-Py repo, installed it, but it didn't run (OS X 10.7.2, Python 2.7.1). I am no Python guy so I can't easily debug the problem at the moment.
I'm pretty excited about this though. I am a veteran Java developer but am tired of being tied to the JVM. Not everyone needs the interop as not everyone is developing in Java/JVM language/platform. I am also geeked about the future of ClojureScript, but not too sure I care much for it in the browser. There is just way too much of a disconnect with everything that is already out there. But, running Clojure on Node seems like a great solution.
I'd like to see more of Clojure written in Clojure someday (sooner than later). Those darned Java exceptions are impossible to decipher in the Clojure context, since there is no context being printed! If you've done even the tiniest of Clojure development, you will know what I am talking about. What we really need first is to see is Clojure's persistent data structures implemented in Clojure, rather than Java (or C#). It would be nice to have this code portable across runtimes (CLR, JVM, Python and perhaps a JavaScript interpreter).
I've been to both Clojure Conj (east coast) and am very excited about Clojure. So, the more ways you can execute Clojure the better (perhaps that will help getting Clojure written in Clojure).
Really looking forward to seeing how you approach this. I've spent years configuring, debugging and modifying Nutch and Lucene code and have always wanted to start from the beginning. Seems like a good time!
If there are other apps such as this one people should talk about them more. Plus, give them a poor review on the AppStore and delete the application. There's no reason to have a poorly written application on your device.
Yeah, no doubt. I saw that and thought it was lame for people to post the announcement. WTF? And I'm the one with -20 karma. I have no idea how. WTF is karma anyway?
