does this site even have anything to do with minimal design other than the name of the site being 'minimal gallery' ? the top of the page says 'Curating beautiful & functional websites' (unrelated to minimalism) and the about page doesn't mention anything about minimalism or 'minimal design'
nothing zen about animated sticky headers that make the page jump around when you scroll down. a giant "Information on NEH and COVID-19:" banner that takes up 1/4 of the screen and won't go away. why is this acceptable?
personally, i knew things were headed in the wrong direction when they added that big orange button in the top left corner. i guess that was version 4. i felt like it was the beginning of the end.
the 'funny' factor is totally unnecessary.. "yes" "no" or "somewhat" would have been much better and straightforward if you wanted to convey some information about the ipv6 status of these sites.

sort of - if you search the wayback machine for something like http://twitter.com/username/* - it will list all the tweets it has - and then a user can download everything and search locally. so, it's not as simple as searching by keyword, but it might be something to be aware about, if you are concerned for that kind of thing
Let's say I start an IRCCloud clone called IRCWorld. People start using it, and it becomes very popular. It's very convenient. Lots and lots of people are now using it to connect to EFNet. People sometimes use IRCWorld to abuse EFnet, but I try really hard to make it easy for EFnet to work with me to handle problems. One day, EFNet is like, F** IRCWorld, this is just too much of a hassle - we don't owe them anything - we've GLINE'd entire networks before, this is no different, and IRCWorld is now banned. Do you have sympathy for my little pet project "IRCWorld" getting blocked off EFnet? Or do you sympathize with EFNet for being tired of it?
Personally, I think the IRCCloud's branding and marketing makes it seem like they are more of an "authority" than they really are. No IRC Network owes them anything. Yes, Fewer people might connect to their IRC Network if they can't use IRCCloud, but that seems to be a part of a calculated decision on the part of the IRC network. At the end of the day, just imagine IRCCloud is just some random site like Mibbit, or even my fake "IRCWorld" example - and it's easier to realize the entire debacle is melodramatic and absurd. It reminds me of when Twitter made the grandiose statement saying "We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society." - It's self-important and self-serving drivel. They want to keep the $$$ rolling in, and this is a rain cloud on their parade.
As an aside, IRCCloud's tweet suggesting that users "switch to a network that is secure" is absurd if someone is going to be using IRCCloud in the first place. You're willfully engaging with what is technically a man in the middle service - you have to TRUST IRCCloud is a safe actor. 'Security' is not a priority here, but convenience is.
Would your tune be any different if they were 34, staying at home all day playing video games, but somehow earning half a million dollars a year doing some "gamer" Twitch/Patreon/YouTube/influencer streaming schtick? Or, better yet, playing video games all day, but magically manage to make obscene amounts of money "trading cryptocoins" . Would their lifestyles suddenly become acceptable to you, simply because they are "making money" off of their sedentary lifestyle ?
just downloaded it. theres a black border around the window on every edge but the top edge. im running windows 10, i wonder if its like that for anyone else.
still no ability to not check for updates. only given the option of 'automatically update' or 'check but let you choose when to install' . it really makes no sense to me. if they are letting you choose when to install, which could be never, why not offer an option of never update?
popup just now saying 'your privacy matters'. the last thing i want is for a browser to ever try and help me 'learn' about how it is helping me with my 'privacy' or anything its doing. it reminds me of opening up Internet Explorer back in the day, the endless amount of garbage you have to check to confirm you've seen the notification before it just finally leaves you alone.
searched 'google' in the input bar - another popup, this time helping me 'learn' how to use the URL input bar, with an 'Okay, Got It' confirm button.
decided ive had enough and closed out, with a popup saying im about to close 2 tabs
I feel it is punching down to attribute not wanting to quarantine or wear masks to a 'Joe Sixpack' caricature. The ultra-wealthy and powerful didn't want to quarantine or wear masks either - except they had the luxury of boarding a private plane and fleeing the country, or sailing around on a yacht, etc.
