Anyone aware of any official/private efforts in China or Russia to digitize or republish these books. Nowdays, finding these books particularly in languages like Hindi is very difficult.
I have very fond memory of these books. We are from lower middle class family in India. My dad was fond of books. Western books were costly, but Soviet and Chinese books were of high quality and cheap. So we used to get loads of them from book fair.
Better way is to provide a Claude.md with strong stylistic guidelines and loc requirements. Else it will be a chicken and mouse game of what is from AI.
I think people overrate 'local' part of open Models vs private. With OpenAI my choice is 1. I have to use them, even if they decide to double the cost or work with govt to blow my country. My $5 server can't run GLM but I have choice from many providers based on my requirements of cost, data residency, political alignment.
Collectively Europe has talent and money to support it. Whole point of sovreignity around it is to have inhouse the talent and capacity to have essential resources even if it can be have for cheap from other nations/alliances.

Religion is one of the best at marketing and fund-raising since millenias. Why is it surprising that they adapt to new tech? They have done it for printing press before that.
