Looking at the hardware behind the post [1]:

    1. Do you have any experience with this kind of processors versus a traditional cluster of raspberry PIs ?: is it less/more stable, or a nightmare in term of executable compilation / compatibility ?

    2. Any recommendations for an EU based alternative ?

Does it support DPDK for fast packet processing or maybe SR-IOV ?. Given the price tag, I suppose it doesn't, but the documentation is sparse.

Well don't donate your body to France [1]. Some witness even alleged the medical team played football with people heads.

It looks to me that Vodafone attach an id to a flow by using the device network id (sim, imsi or maybe the MAIDs). Then the website, when generating the html page, can ask Vodafone this id and include a targeted ad.

^The twitter post is more informative.

It's an alarming trend against users. At least the ISP could propose a reduced subscription fee when TrustPid is used and an alternative "normal" price for users that opt-out when signing the contract, but it wont happen.

I am not sure what is Netavark about: are they deprecating the CNI convention and rolling anew one or is it some-kind of a new layer of abstraction ?.

What if I wanted to: keep using Cilium with Pod in the future, or having a chains of multiple CNIs ?.

I am perplex. Solar energy for example don't take into account the cost of renewal of the panel (every 20-30 year) and the cost of recycling / storing the toxic photovoltaic liquid [1]. The IRENA projects[2] they can fully recycle this toxic waste and recreate value from it, which is bold imo.

There is some OS tooling in the SDN realm, like Stratum[1] for example, or a P4 board for the serious. But the hardware behind it isn't cheap.

I wish router for personal use were as "easily" programmable as an OpenFlow compatible equipment with a external controller. Even if you need some extra tooling to reach all the feature of RouterOS, like a compute node for the DNS. I don't know if this kind of evolution will ever reach the consumer space.

I am not sure: did the word doom predate the game or did Id invented it ?. The word origin isn't very clear in wiktionary [1].

I guess no more project will dare to use meta in their name. They will fear either a copyright lawsuit or a fall in SEO.

Eu can't have "nice" things. Eu has a long track on spending billions without any results: like the project to make an IaaS rivaling Amazon. The search engine to counter Google, the cpu to counter Intel and so on.

Meanwhile, the EU carmakers stepped in and successfully lobbied to have older (to very old) generation chips factories built. So it's a shift of taxer payer money to help carmakers in their short term goals.

Seeing how the Afghanistan war ended I don't think so. The last time the USA properly won a war was when they nuked cities and civilians, whereas China and Russia never went this far. Now given that USA is definitely the more belligerent of the 3, it might happen again.

I don't understand why France sticks with the USA/UK at this point as they treated as bull-crap. I am sure they could strike a good deal with the Chinese and be better off: like leasing land in the Caribbean Sea or making a joint venture in some weapon. France don't really care about the China Sea in the end.

They should be as "pragmatical" as the Aussie !.

If you want the go under the nanosecond there is the White Rabbit [1][2] project. The CERN uses it to control the magnets in the loop of a particule accelator. It is also based on NTP, Ethernet and FPGA.

I wish P4 fpga boards weren't so expensive for hobbyist. You can do fun stuff with them and create a custom network pipeline. It's totally overkill for a home network (they are used to create datacenter fabric) but it's nice and shiny :)

I suppose they capture the video stream and detects pattern in it. I guess it was just a matter of time as the gaming industry went bonkers with the anti-cheat trojans and eavesdropping, pushing hackers to go for the raw video.

Sadly the side effect will be that the industry is going to push high bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) on every cables now.

Guix use Scheme/Guile. It's way saner that the Nix custom language. The biggest pro/cons is that they are flexible dynamic languages. So when you define your deployment, you need to code very defensively because no type system will support you and find mistakes.

I would like to see the employer reaction if someone has a Librem phone or any non Android/iOS mobile.

Yet it's +800$ for this short satisfaction.

From the article:

  - "Toronto employment lawyer Lior Samfiru told Go Public that employers can compel employees to download an app on their cell phone — but only if they're told it's a requirement when they are hired."

So it's legal. Moreover, the lawyer continues saying that an employer can fire someone for any reason. So, if you don't sign an addendum with app requirement and install the app on your personal phone, then you are fired.

Now, I am amazed that an employer can legally have rights on other properties (hardware and data), and we are speaking of Canada here. I fear to know what they can do on more liberal countries (like the usa).
