I very much agree. I recall around the era of iPhone 4 or 5 (?) that I could easily navigate the Settings app without ferreting around looking for the right page. Now I have found that I can almost never find what I’m looking for without searching.

The macOS System Prefs is also not ideal but I prefer it to the iOS Settings.

I am an accountant and no I never use a physical calculator other than when studying for the CPA exam as one is permitted in the test room.

I spend a lot of time in excel and if I need a quick calculation I do it in a cell to the side. This is often quicker because the figures are often in the workbook already.

If I don’t have excel open, I will use the calculator app if I’m doing a quick check calc using some figures from a PDF, email, etc. However even this is remarkably faster than picking up a physical calculator let alone having to carry something with me.

Although some of the partners at the firm still use physical calculators, the overwhelming majority of people I work with do not use a physical calculator.

I have been using Firefox & macOS for about the last 4-5 years. I primarily use it because I enjoy the bookmark sync between my Mac and linux desktops and because I try using open-source software as much as reasonably possible. However I will used a closed-source product when I feel it is better than the open source option. (E.g. MS Excel) It seems like Safari has been rapidly improving as of late. Any recommendations to try it again over Firefox? Would be a bit annoying to find some sort of "bookmark sync" solution again, but something good probably exists out there.

Thank you for sharing that podcast link. I have just finished listening to the episode while walking and found it so potentially beneficial to me that I was taking notes on my phone while walking. I enjoy how this method is more about one's approach than the actual tool used. A yellow notepad or a few .txt files could work equally as well as a more complex "app". Those are the solutions that tend to work best for me. Let the content be as complex as needed and keep the tool simple.

I think it makes sense that people who don’t live within a community should not be permitted to vote in that community’s elections.

Consider the question for states or countries. Would it make sense for Massachusetts residents to vote in Connecticut‘s elections? Or Canadian residents to vote in the US’s elections?
