There's a difference between the letter of the law and the word of the law. Having experienced both places I can say there is a difference in how things are run and regulated and if they call it legal tender or whatever it doesn't matter. As a customer it does matter because I end up paying the junk fees so please don't patronize me for saying it.

How about making it compulsory to accept legal tender for events /races and other things? How many times do you sign up to run a race and are forced to purchase through vendors like "Event Dog" or other where paying cash is not even an option. And these companies always tack on up to 10$ "convenience fees" that are unavoidable. In places like Canada where currency is legal tender you can avoid these scummy vendors by paying the merchant cash directly

It uses dynamic tiling rather than static tiling meaning more versatility how specific desktops get arranged such as bsp, tree, or even custom arrangements

I have an issue out to make it agnostic of keyboard layouts if that helps! https://github.com/asdf-vm/asdf/issues/930

I live in Gary and there are many factors that can factor into the economics here, mainly a single employer planning the entire city and that employer collapse. A house is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I find the hinge system bleak too. I've been on there a year and somewhat rarely get people to respond after a initial "match" let alone only managing to meet 2 people in real life. I say it is bleak for sure unless you're a swimsuit model

I actively use the XPS 13 from 2015 as my daily driver. I never had any issues besides a buggy broadcom wifi module that I recently swapped out for Intel which fixed all my issues. I can say I certainly got my money's worth & more from my machine!

Twitter also completely blocked its static HTML site a few years ago. They insist that we enable JS to view plain-text content that I can directly view on the blog without JS.

What are disconnected customers going to do? Surely they won't cut off the entire US military and DoD by terminating that cash cow of on premises.

This reminds me of Gamemaker by Mark Overmars except modern and multiplatform and best of all, OSS. Worth me to take a look!

Way to go! It's incredible.

If it works like a forum in the classic sense, why can't I at least get some basic content with JS disabled?

I just launch zoom from Firefox and use the browser edition on Wayland. It will nag you to download a program, but you can skip that. Hasn't failed me yet.

I did a consulting stint in the CNCF and cloud native space for a while(5 yrs). My company was aquired and things really started to be about butts in seats and being billable all the time.

I had a manager I could reach out to but I maybe talked with them once or twice a year. While being able to continue personal development sounds nice on paper, and believe me, the company touted training time and ability to disconnect from customers, I never found the chance to pursue those goals. It was all about being onsite with the customer to bring in those $$ as billable time.

I loved my customers and consider many good friends to this day. However, the toil continued to burn in, not to mention the 100% travel; my personal life began to take a hit.

I got out of consulting and work as an engineer now. It was a valuable experience, and I worked with some really cool customers. But my personal life comes first and I now expect a certain level of support from my workplace now.

I do miss the network I made as a consultant, and a certain amount of travel is nice. Being able to drive innovation through digital transformation in a 60+ yr old organization leaves a good feeling of purpose. I wish there was some sort of happpy medium.

This is part of the handmade software movement. An effort to focus down on elegant software development using primitives rather than generic libraries and testing the status quo. Exciting to see this project move along!

Happy to see Gopher listed! We even have a HN portal on Gopher which is pretty well suited for the folder listing format.

The same happened to me and I decided to switch to antibody for plugin management. I no longer trust the maintainer as a viable option after what the author said on an earlier thread:

"I'm the projects' owner and I can delete them anytime I want. And that just happened – I've had some say major doubts whether I want the time-consuming projects to go on, so I've deleted them"

I didnt know that the community took up maintenance though. I will have to check it out.

Great concept. A few pointers:

- The map select seems to spazz out when I pan and zoom, often panning far greater distances than I intended.

- Maybe support something like Gravatar for profile images so you don't have to upload if you don't want to.

- I am impressed that I can mostly use this with NoScript enabled! I don't just get a white screen whin I disable JS. I always give sites a +1 if they can support some sort of non-JS fallback. More sites need to do this instead of the blank page dark pattern
