I wonder how many systems actually care? I presume the core NTP servers handle this well, and most systems just feed off of that?

GPS satellites probably handle it well too, but maybe some consumer or even industrial GPS receivers don't? Maybe some trading systems? I don't think crypto systems care too much.

There are true ZKP setups where no one learns anything but the absolute minimum (e.g. is this person over 16, not what is their dob). This is hard to prove though and I don't know if I trust Google to do it

It sounds like none of the data will be reliable? Ai and community seems like very little will be true and I will have no idea which part will be true.

I'm pretty nuclear, but I don't understand how having nuclear power prevents vulnerability to direct attack? If anything it would concentrate your risks - your energy now comes from fewer, more centralized and more fragile sources

Isn't this the whole point of an AGENTS.md file? So that you can leave the readme for humans and put LLM-friendly crap in a separate file?

The Fifa hack had nothing to do with JWTs, it was because FIFA was doing auth on the client side. They would have had the same issue if they used cookie auth.

"You're holding it wrong" would beg to differ, not to mention the many flops he had (remember the magic mouse?).

He was smart & very successful. I wouldn't call him relatable to most humans.

Honestly my biggest pain point with all personal accounting systems was that there was no easy, free way to automatically pull my transaction data from all my accounts into a single, local file that I can play with as I want. I really don't want to go to all my accounts every month and click download.

There still isn't, but I did recently find simplefin(https://beta-bridge.simplefin.org/). Its not great (e.g. quota of only ~25 requests per day), but its good enough and the price was cheap enough that I just bit the bullet. It also paired well with Actual budget, and now I have a personal accounting system that I am reasonably happy with.

I also found teller.io, which is frankly a better dev experience (and good free tier!), but they don't support all the banks I'm on and somehow simplefin does.

I have a friend that worked in NYC in part of the DOE (not a teacher, but something adjacent). Its a union position, so during COVID when everyone was getting remote, her profession got remote too.

53 minutes per week.

53 minutes. Not even a full hour. It was specific enough that you knew some bureaucrat went out of their way to hyper optimize this, creating a maximum slap-in-your-face effect.

This 30 minutes thing feels the same way.

I would guess this puts a big dent in NASA's moon plans. I think Blue origin was _just_ selected to be the first moon lander mission. Now they are going to be grounded _again_. They just got off grounded status last week! And this is not even going to mention the significant ground equipment damage they have to deal with.

Very unfortunate all around. I hope BO finds a way to keep the timelines.

I mean... Is the really valuable? I don't think what atlassian built is particularly technically challenging. There are a lot of products and it would take a lot of work, but no individual bit is hard.

I think the only hard part is getting 350k customers to use it.

Huh, interesting. I am very dubious of that quote. IANAL, but I'm pretty sure if they actually filed that in court they would be laughed out of the room. My guess is either the reporters got it wrong or its some AI hallucination. Unfortunately they don't source this claim.

To be a bit pedantic, its not sovereign immunity, its qualified immunity. It is defeatable, and there are examples of it, but its rather rare. It is an abused and obviously problematic legal doctrine

Maybe a dumb question, but how is this suppose to work for iphone users? They wont have google play, and it seems like android/google play is required here? There is no way they would cut out such a huge chunk of the market.

I don't understand why the felt the need to do a big-bang merge like this. Its a formatter, so the files should be functionally equivalent before and after. Why not just enable it for new files/edit files for a while, then once comfortable apply it to old files in batches? What advantage does the big bang merge give? Seems higher risk for the same reward

Sure, it would force sites to block traffic from vpns.

The fun part is when you post videos of yourself using a vpn to go to gov website or the candidate website and watch them do nothing

Why do you need an online calculator subscription? I can kind of get why you want a physical calculator, especially for a school environment, but why would you want a calculator online when you can just use... the rest of the web?

Some of these felt very cherry picked. E.g. 8% interest rate in banks? That probably means mortgage rates were 10-15%, where as they are now 5-6%

$0 pensions? Thats just a lie? The pension comes out of your paycheck. Its literally a line item on your pay stub.

Also this site would be better if you overlay inflation or something to highlight when/where costs rose. E.g. using the CPI inflation calculator the $7400 for a new car would be $28k today. $28k wont buy you a F150 today (starts at ~40k) but its a good chunk of the way, and there are other cars you can buy for $28k easy.

My guess is that is this because UAE has ports on the other side of Hormuz and doesn't want to be restricted in their usage by OPEC? Does this mean UAE thinks Hormuz will be a problem for a long time? And what does it mean for oil prices long term?
