The talks that Niles gave at the Utah Zig meetups (linked in the repo) were great, just wished the AV setup was a little smoother. There seemed like there some really neat visualizations that Niles prepared that flopped. Either way, I recommend it. Inspired me to read a lot more machine code these days.

Then your manager and skips question why everything moves so slowly in development time, you always repeat the same answers. You start to die a little inside from repeating yourself and they start to be suspicious because nothing changes.

Meanwhile the codebase takes 12 minutes to compile a 1 line change. Each time you compile you forget why you liked programming to begin with and you spiral into an abyss where you think the only solution is to quit and start a hobby farm.

Which year/trim of a truck are we talking about here specifically? I’d be interested in not refuelling for months of city driving.

Assuming we’re just talking about driving around for errands and not things you use a truck for, this would still be impressive.

I'm more amazed that the hardware industry has hoisted our shit software into usable state. Just bravo.

I can only imagine the people working on the actual chips are screaming in silence somewhere at the complete waste of energy we've made.

Don’t rewrite it.

Every time I hear someone wanting to rewrite something without a VERY solid reason is a flag for me. It is hard improving a system that’s already there, but can be super rewarding if you change your mindset.

Everyone is eager to go with a blank canvas and greenfield a project but ultimately we’ll end up with the same shit situation in 5-6 years after the original authors have bounced and the newer devs are side-eyeing the code.

If I’m reading the specs right it looks like their headphones are required. I’m guessing mic’s are on each side and offloaded to the player? Either way, I wouldn’t want to be forced to use their headphones.

The improvements to the abbreviations is a welcome change, should enable some “macro” like workflows. Excited to try it tonight.
