I have no block discussion. I just read other peoples talk pages.

Besides from the obvious cases it is quite subjective what disrupting the project even means.

I'm not trying to stop the character assassination article but I will be a nuance to the process. I will argue this valuable to the project.

Im kinda curious, if a topic is considered a fringe theory, say fringe physics (where the consensus among surviving editors is that it must be denounced as fake until published in a high quality journal) would you oppose including other high quality sources or would you exclude them to help portray the topic as fake?

If one was to reliably demonstrate 1) there to be [say] a giant time travel laboratory, 2) a hundred million research budget and 3) prominent names involved.

Should they now be banned?

I've never been so confused implementing something. I sat there thinking, this is it? There is nothing else to do? How can this be it?

It does have all the features and API craziness other processors offer but you don't have to use any of it.

This is the entire debate in a nutshell.

I looked at the php article and it's notability is pretty much taken on faith. No one is silly enough to question it.

I pick that one because there are countless programming articles about less popular topics.

A really good source on wp is an article from a major news outlet that talks exclusively about the topic. It gets more hilarious where a tech news website requires the same.

For example, I never read hackernoon but it's big, old and it has a redaction. What it doesn't have is so called reliable sources. Therefore it was deleted and isn't considered a good source.

If some big newspaper would write about hackernoon it would immediately be worthy of an article and it would be usable for articles about things like Odin.

It's kinda sad to see the only website with such elaborate guidelines fail to follow them.

Your argument appears to be that you don't need real evidence to dispose of editors.

If the ui calls for it I take the current position of the element and the destination then change the current to be exactly in between repeatedly on a interval. That way it moves really fast and eases into position.

One more ancient trick: back when computers were slow I would always ask myself why the data is not already in the desired format.

For example: Today you might have data in a json and turn it into a row of divs. You could store the data as a file with a row of divs which would make it a pain working with it on the backend. But on the front end you wouldn't have to parse it.

The phone doesn't modify the image but it changes the image orientation.

This is much faster but all other operations would need to work with it and when eventually served in a browser all the 100 000 viewer clients would have to rotate it themselves.

I won't argue it's wrong but it shifts complexity from image rotation to image editing and viewing.

It seems strange to add "real" rotation to the ui but the phone app is the industrial standard for image editing.

You describe the concept of being taken seriously. We use this a lot in real life. It's arguably a very useful concept.

Wikipedia has elaborate guidelines for everything but users have their own ideas.

For example, the guidelines don't grant you the privilege to delete contributions because you've decided not to take the editor seriously.

Imagine reverting and putting it in an edit summary: I don't take this guy seriously

If there are insufficient independent so called reliable sources to establish the so called notability of Odin but it does have 11k GitHub stars. Then you put an infobox on the article that describes the problem.

You then attempt to find sources. If you find nothing that Wikipedia accepts you might have a conversation about sources for programming languages.

Then you end up reading things like the AFD for hackernoon (22 May 2026) Not even worthy of a stub?

Then you wonder how any programming article established so called notability.

I've just looked at php and I don't see any reference from mainstream media, definitely nothing specifically about php.

It doesn't seem notable?

It's not so hard but does require some debate and research. Only the sensitive info needs to be contained. For [say] a webshop you have at least the name, address info, email and phone number. Perhaps payment info or coupon codes could be included.

Gradually make it more sophisticated.

It's just an example. The point is for stuff used often enough to find its way into html and improve.

The time date picker was a fun idea but needs work.

Search suggestions was a good idea but the implementation is still horrific.

Basic table sort doesn't seem very exotic but you could add many data types.

Everyone is using toggles rather than checkboxes. I know how to doctor this with css and labels but its an ugly hack.

It's really an extension of the abstraction debate.

X86 was designed for performance. The language really hates humans compared to machine languages that came before. I thought it was a truly stupid idea at the time but had to change my mind eventually.

Then we glue on many layers of abstraction and made everything as convenient for the programmer as possible. Performance became unimportant!

It imho begs to question why we are even using x86 or risk or even FORTH if performance doesn't matter. Make something luxurious that doesn't need to be compiled? Perhaps plug and play coprocessors named after libraries.

But if we aren't going to look at the code anymore we might as well write the application in English and give the LLM some cache. Go full prayer driven development.

Stop everyone from reinventing the registration form so that it can be filled out without all the fuzzy business. You specify the fields you need and where it should post. Then have no further control over it.

Have the browser bar show it is a standard form for site: example.com which means no [3rd party] js listening in on personal information. Validate and format all countries adresses correctly. Get email addresses and names right

If you let me (or random Joe) design it it will no doubt be wrong in multiple ways. It will probably zoom annoyingly on iphones, I will ask for the state name outside the us and I should really ask for your mum's birthday and maiden name. I will disable right click, mess up tab index and ruin accessibility with a gray on gray font. Should I wrap table rows in labels?

Why should everyone have to implement this if 100 million people already tried and mostly got it wrong?

I had some hilarious moderation experiences by deleting all negative responses from topics specifically chosen attract negativity. People got so mad that they couldn't rub their poop on the conversation. I respond to their mails with some of the funniest trolling in my career. Meanwhile the conversations were all love and peace among the like minded.

Some html tags for things people actually do online would be a game changer.

Content editable is as old as Rome but obvious things are still missing like a rich text input area with the obvious options like italic and bold. But why not a <quote> with some sensible attributes. And <code type="text/php"> with highlighting.

It would also be sensible to have standardized forms that the webmaster can't modify in any way.

You could also have an <index> that points at a json. Blogspot use to have tags like that. Something like:

   <index src="index.json" max="100"> 
     <h3><title/></h3>
   </index>

Then the title tag is replaced by the "title": from the json. Could have a pagination tag too. Need to flesh out things like requesting the next json when one gets to the end. Not impossible.

Perhaps there is even room for commercial post ranking solutions.
