I vaguely remember the 3char screen names and the trading of accounts or lists. If I recall correctly there was underground stuff going on with trading those names. Thanks for hitting that memory switch for me.
I'd think you need to take into account a few other items such as:
Network Usage (What business segment is using it?)
Upcoming Deliverables (Are current issues being resolved, active development?)
Features
Awareness (Is it in the press? Is press good/bad?)

Aloha, I'm not on Oahu, but Maui. Pretty abysmal here as far as tech work. Been here since February, and now playing with the idea of looking for "real" work.
I'm sure many industries are supported with the likes of "Just Google it"
