Sure! If I trust your site but not my ISP, then https allows me to trust the connection between us. That means that nobody can tamper with the content and inject some malicious JS. Also, the ISP could only tell that I am talking to your server, and not anything beyond that.
If Verizon feels that Netflix should pass the costs on to the consumers, how would they go about that? Much like Verizon can't know if a user will be using Netflix, Netflix can't know what networks a specific user will come in from, so they'd have to spread the costs over all subscribers, just like Verizon.
If I remember correctly, there's a probability that a line will end with "...hic!" or that s will be replaced with sh. It won't happen every time, so your first message could go through fine. A checksum is probably best.
Character names will never contain punctuation, so expecting a possible terminating "...hic!" and ignoring it is fine.
It is easy to focus on the "glory" positions, but easy to forget all of the support required. For a doctor to save someone who comes in on an ambulance, there's the other staff in the hospital, the training for everyone, the tools, the work to get the right tools in the right place, the roads the ambulance drove in on, etc etc.
Do you mean that GET requests shouldn't modify data? A URL that deletes everything would be idempotent; if it's hit once, it's the same effect as if it's hit many times.
On the dashboard, there are four measures: Temperature, Light, Pressure, and Magnetic Flux. I know that my phone (Galaxy Nexus) has the last three, but I wonder where the temperature data is coming from. The only temperature data I can find with AndroSensor is the battery temperature. Are all these values live readings of my sensors?
[edit] I should note that the temperature on the dashboard is ~85 degrees Farenheit, when the current temperature is about 20F lower.
