I recommend artificial turf soccer fields. They're padded! They're flat. They're good for watching games, or people watching too. And you can pretend to be a winger or striker, constantly measuring the angle and distance to the far right corner, because who doesn't want to be like the GOAT?

I don't mean to rain on your parade...just want to say enjoy it now, and remember it later. Good luck.

Yup, 64GB iPhone 11 Pro still going strong. A wee bit slow however, so...a new 17? Have to upgrade eventually.

Hence, the "dark forest" theory of the Internet is no longer theory.

I met him in a "Bark at the Moon" contest and shook his hand. Not sure he noticed, lol! Anyway, Bark at the Moon is one of his top songs! Here's howling in sorrow for you Ozzy, RIP.

I wish I had kept, and could still use, my brown plastic PowerBook...I forgot what model that was but...a brown laptop?!? It was soooo cool! :)

Wish you could swap innards like you can swap engines with (some) cars.

Exactly this. The need to make money from a thing may well eliminate the value one derives from the thing, and even add negatives such as stress, etc.

And, "I'm not a cat."

(Except sometimes maybe as a NPC)

And after the walk, talk with an intelligent human dialog partner to exchange ideas and concepts that illuminate the schemas. Heck, walk and talk together! :)

For more info on Lyme and related difficult to identify diseases, NYT columnist Ross Douhat wrote a book about his experience w/ Lyme and his ongoing adaptations. It's called...

The Deep Places: A Memoir of Illness and Discovery

Agreed. We are now "back" to laws for thee but not for me.

Just want to say I LOVE the fact this word, and its meaning, is now in the public eye. Call 'em out! It's fun!

As we used to say, "two faces and a ball."

Gary is harsh or extreme, even, but the point largely stands: https://garymarcus.substack.com/p/what-if-generative-ai-turn...

Personally I think there will be things that gen-AI is useful for, such as rapid education for beginners and learning or performance feedback mechanisms. Those use cases are promising, and still in development. Hopefully they'll be cost-effective as well.

Also, from Sequoia: https://www.sequoiacap.com/article/ais-600b-question/

Sort of surprised this hasn't been taken down, actually.

As a kid, I didn't understand charisma. So I got a natural 18 for my D&D fighter, big deal. I'ma gonna run the goblins through with my long sword now...

As an adult, I assess every person I meet through the charisma lens first, if not almost first, because I think it's the foundation of your reputation with others. Seems it's almost magic.

I get to "enjoy" low-frequency bass from musical events at a public park about a half mile away from my home. It sounds to me like someone in a car just outside my window, just one of those cars that go boom. Sadly, it's just people having their brand of fun. No defense against being in the natural frequency node.

I sort of miss my Canon EOS 1 at 10 fps (film) when shooting sports. "If you saw it, you missed it."
