The record mentioned was my introduction to the War of the Worlds. I had a much older cousin who played this album at least once per day for months. As I grew older I read the story and the various adaptations of the story and it has always been a favorite of mine. I still have great memories of the music and the story as it was told by the album - the standouts to me are "the chances of anything coming from Mars is a million to one they said" and "OOOOOLAAAAAH". That album may be what tipped me towards science fiction as well now that I think about it.
I started playing AD&D in seventh grade a very long time ago. The cool kids have always played Dungeons and Dragons. Best distraction and creative thinking platform ever.
I work on St. Simons Island and enjoy the environment completely; great place for a vacation.
I would also like to plug Jekyll island which is just south over the bridge - there is a fee to get onto the island and passes are available. Beaches, a water park, hotels and a largish island to explore. Good times.
The horses roam all over the place - I can nearly guarantee you that you won't miss them. They are everywhere!
As to where to go and what to see - choose one of the trails that hits the beach. Lots to see!
The US Military has zero hubris in and of itself. The 'US Military' has so many moving parts and sub-cultures, not including all the support systems, contractors and so on. On a unit by unit basis; it is just a job for many many people.
You might be talking about the big picture 'US Military' - it doesn't wield itself either.
That is a great thought process that I agree with but haven't been able to put it in words.
I ascribe it to 'hindsight being crystal clear'.
Of course it is. There always seems to be dots that can be connected once 'something' happens - regardless of what that 'something' is. But until that 'something' happens, the dots are without meaning and who cares about connecting them.
I had so hoped that at one point Fry's would buy out all the Radio Shack locations and make them out to be Frontier Fry's Locations that was more tuned to hyper local Maker Scenes.
