I would find it much cooler, if the front was symmetrical and without any buttons. It would probably be eays to put a little on/off switch on the back. I would like a switch, that shows in a physical way if the thing is on or off. Buttons are much more confusing.
Yahoo is a legend and runs a couple of interesting websites and keeps doing new stuff here and there. I like that. I want that to continue. I dont want them to be swallowd by a company that I dont like.
And about the money... its only money. Do we all HAVE TO bow down to the dollar and each and every day go the path of the most money? No. I dont. Im free. And everyone who says Jerry HAS TO because he is the CEO of a public traded company has simply been proven wrong. How cool is that? I dont want a predictable world where everything is based on pennies. Lets celebrate some rebellion ;-)
Java! Interesting. I did not use that since the 90s.
Ok, I enabled Java and reloaded. Then I got "download missing plugins" in that formerly empty space. I clicked on it and then got a window saying "The following plugins are available: Java Runtime Environment". In the meantime, in the background, the page got dark and displayed something about the fact that my session timed out. Anyway, I clicked "next" to continue to install Java. Then I got a screen saying "Java Runtime Environment Not Available".
The only problem I see with vim is that today I write everything online. In textboxes like the one I use right now to type this text. Maybe we need a firefox extension, that blows up a textarea fullscreen and edits it with vim?
Grahams proof for "ideas are worthless" is that there is no market for ideas. No market means no demand. No demand means no value.
Buchheit says that there is a market for ideas - the VC market: "If someone with a history of being right also has a capable team of climbers who have demonstrated the technical skill and judgment to climb other mountains, then that is very valuable, and they will have no trouble getting their idea funded."
I tend to think that Buchheit is wrong an Graham is right. Buchheits VC market is not a market of ideas. "Funding" doesnt mean buying ideas.
