something more cybernetic, my friend :)

Yes that's true, I'm biased because I am pro-AI.

What are your hopes and predictions for the Zig project?
hazn
·그저께·discuss
Despite stated otherwise in the post, this is a personal attack.

Anyway, let's try to discuss something more technical: I predict Zig will lose steam, and in 2027, will lose relevance:

1) It's hardcore Anti-AI 2) It's moved to Codeberg 3) It doesn't have the momentum to sustain the disadvantages of these two decisions

The project will in max 2 years make a blog post, not admitting to their mistakes, telling themselves that Zig is a success, despite the industry having moved on.

i tried posting some of my articles here, but the didn't really get much interaction. however, someone else posted probably my most controversial article, and i'm happy to see that it had a nice discussion around it: source: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46412578

i agree, this is probably an US thing. the relationship and service of banks is a little different in europe.

interesting, the notation also implies 2005 and 2010 A.D and not B.C, or maybe the notation is about exactly A.D? either way, interesting choice if it was intentional. we say “year 515” without disambiguation right

i don't write shorthand -- i type really fast on my keyboard, summarizing what everyone said. i've had compliments about how efficient i am at doing this, so i imagine it's not a widespread skill. i believe this to be very trainable though, thus my post.

I remember reading that restate.dev is a 'push' based workflow and therefore works well with serverless workflows: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40660568

what is your input on these two topics? aka pull vs push and working well with serverless workflows

a good question, my line of thinking was: if llvm allows easy ports to freebsd, why is freebsd always a lower tier than linux in llvm based projects?

weak reasoning, as it might just be a supply/demand and not a product quality question
hazn

what i am pondering is: is it easier in theory to port swift to freebsd rather than linux? the facts that macOs has shared history with freebsd tells me yes, the fact that llvm favors linux (?) tells me both.

also, congrats, the swift and freebsd are ambitious in terms of new deployment platforms and compatibility! (see embedded swift, oci freebsd containers, freebsd on firecracker)

Why is it condescending and patronzing? I read it as a person trying to understand the situation.

Nadia wrote recently published the book "antimemetics" about this exact finding: https://nayafia.substack.com/p/introducing-antimemetics-my-n...

Her takeaway is that the value of small, antimemetic, high-trust groups has risen -- exactly because there are less than before

compared to the majority of consumer laptops, doesn’t apple have an exceptional track record on this topic?

their software-hardware design philosophy is unmatched in the consumer space i would say. the fact that the transition from intel chips to arm chips went as smooth as it did is a testament to my point.

of course, they are not perfect.

and the fact that air quality usually gradually worsens over time. i think it's easier to tell bad air quality when you move in between rooms/spaces.

but i agree with the op that 'looking' at a display already subconsciously tells you something about the air quality and your relation to it. my air quality sensor [0] has a green/orange/red light system though, so i can sometimes just tell that the air quality is bad by a red led flaring up in the corner of my eye.
