From my experience, it has not been sycophantic in the sense that it pushes back and questions my own reasoning in healthy ways. There were moments where I felt I was brushing up against actual AI psychosis, and it pushed back on my questioning of its intentions, that it even had intentions. I'll put it this way: I feel comfortable recommending Claude to people who haven't experienced AI yet. As we've learned from early experiences with other models, leading people down paths of believing they understood math in ways nobody else has and even harming themselves, I put Claude as a safer alternative.

I think they have a better agent personality which pushes back and isn't sycophantic. It has been awhile since I've used the others but that's where it locked me in and I've stuck with it.

I _believe_ the term "AI Psychosis" is a "thought-terminating cliché" that readily puts you in a position to disarm any criticism to your point of view, which, if you're aware of it or not, it's a belief in and of itself. I'm more willing to bet your can't have discussions because you're trying to have debates.

But on your actual point, I don't think AI needs to "surpass current experts abilities in all promised fields" as a marker of its ability. The immediate gains has already shown some remarkable promise and more LLMs should have had safeguards around mental health up front. If I were to put it on a scale, I would say it is net positive long term with a strong negative spike up front which was somewhat preventable. But who knows, maybe is just have "AI Psychosis" and you can easily dismiss me.

My only issue with this was the restriction of "Do not look at any data outside of our working folder" is preventing the tool from doing what it does best. I would have given it access to PubMed to pull the latest research on the subject and validate.

I wouldn't consider Claude itself to be the tool that does a job like this, but the tool that pulls in the best data and gives a supported suggestion. And then go through a number of iterations on where it failed to hone in its assessment.

That's what I would like to call job security. When you know how to read what is wrong, you can easily catch the mistakes and correct it. AI gets you there faster by doing a lot of things right and you correct the mistakes.

It is fun when debugging slow code and you see a for loop in a for loop. Feels rewarding to sort that out.

I like this. Really paints a picture of what we are progressing towards. The tools we needed to build the tools we need to build. And the fact that it all boils down to getting the computer to do the thing we want it to do and trying to figure out what that is. Makes me hopeful for the future.

Boiling down AI to faster emails and listing out those horrible things and trying to side step it as not equivocating are both really disingenuous arguments.

AI can and has already shown to be really helpful in emerging medicines and medical break throughs. Should we just throw that out with everything else based on the argument of the article that it is annoying that people are hyped about a new technology?

The tally of society hasn't been set and I would urge you to understand that the opinions online formed in echo chambers don't represent the majority.

OK but the ones here are of a certain bias to the discussion. It isn't downvote based on merit, it's downvote based on disagreement with where it falls pros/con to the topic. A discussion on the shape of the comment section isn't a complaint on downvotes alone.

You don't need to define my position or my definitions, I said what I said and meant it as such based on a specific comment in this thread you authored.

no, take a look around. comments are downvoted for not agreeing with the topic, not for lack a validity. You, yourself, are ganging up on commenter and painting people with broad strokes. That is quintessentially a space where dissenting opinions aren't allowed.

At work, with friends, even on dates, oddly enough. But this is a polarizing topic and I don't think any of the discussions here are actually discussions. It's more venting and downvoting anyone who has a different view on all this.

I'm starting to realize this comment section is an echo chamber and dissenting opinions aren't allowed.

why are you being so condescending?

I don't know, I see plenty of organic interest growing out there. Even from people who are against it when they see how it can benefit them. It's just a tool that increases productivity at a rate we haven't experienced in a long time. It isn't a shock that it is hyped.

I mean, the author is mad something is popular and calls it psychosis. Which, all things being equal, is balanced out by nay sayers time and time again. Is not posting a lengthy rant online and sharing it not a form of "psychosis" when viewed from people that like the new technology?

But he lost me at "As it exists right now, I don't give a toss what good it can do, what practical benefits it has once the techbros move on to their next mark. I don't care about any of it at all...". Because he feels hatred, we are supposed to look the other way when it can and does create benefits?

Just find a way to use it to your liking (maybe that's zero) and ignore the stuff you can't be bothered with and maybe that means being less connected to technology, which honestly, is pretty great at times.

I promise you top performers aren't always thinking about work. There is proof in going detached from work problems and doing other things can help produce novel solutions. Same principle as getting a good night's sleep vs cramming the night before a test. Your subconscious does a lot of lifting. Never being able to put down work is just anxiety masked as dedication, in my book.

>The company reiterated that Apple Intelligence relies on on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, with a promise that user data is only used to execute the immediate request and is not accessible to Apple or third parties. Apple added that outside experts can verify those privacy guarantees "at any time."

Why do you give Elon such influence. He doesn’t have to do anything. SpaceX employs engineers. I think that’s one thing that’s keeping the discussion from being rational whenever it is brought up online. Too many knee jerk reactions to the personal feelings people have with Elon, quick to share sound bites they heard that reinforce their position. I don’t like the guy and even I see this as a huge game changer in the scope of space and technology. It’s no wonder to me that Google would invest in this along with other companies and soon, lots of retail investors.

Your points about whether or not some aspects are sound or safe are valid and worth bringing up but it doesn’t change the nature of how these technologies are and will be developed.

Not sure how we went from space x will fail to there are no companies new industries to the new industries are lying to data centers don’t make sense.

There are plenty of reason for space data centers the big one would be: the public is moving against data centers. So plenty of space up there that isn’t regulated. Cooling is not impossible, the ISS does it. It’s not out the realm of science, just needs to be solved. And they are already sending up startlink satellites, why not just make them bigger with the right cooling equipment and then not be concerned about longevity, just let it burn up when it’s of no use.

Check out K2 Space. They are planning a large bus satellite that can ferry deliverables to different orbits. They are just one of many many companies just itching to send large mass objects into space at low cost.
