Out of curiosity, what is the significance of the 16GB of RAM?

> I have only seen them on machines that are ruggedized for harsh environment

FWIW, you can also see them used for switching to DVORAK and other alternative layouts.

And for adding a second writing script to a keyboard with Latin-only labels.

I visited on an iPhone, I wasn’t expecting the game to work, but there’s an on screen keyboard you can toggle which works great. Greatly appreciated.

“Reveals” is a very strange choice here. Was it previously a secret that they now decided to share? Was it previously unknown and only now discovered?

Really, it’s just an overly fluffy guide for using Sysinternals utilities to help fix the issue. With a heading that is criminally click-baity.

Based on this article at least, he is not disagreeing with those claims, he is not even acknowledging they exist.

The original claim, as I understand it, is basically this: you can’t be an honest actor in a dishonest system.

And it’s not even necessary to claim that billionaires did something uniquely wrong to become billionaires. It’s just that their share of the exploitation is so, so, so much bigger.

> Don't post innocuous images of children ever?

Don’t raise boys who abuse girls. That’d be a big step in the right direction.

This has nothing to do with “deepfakes”. These girls could have been attacked by aliens and be received with more credulity. There has to be a point where you understand that this behavior towards girls and women is simply being allowed.

One of the mothers says this quite explicitly:

> Calling the event rumors and speculation when a crime occurred was almost worse than the crime

fwiw, it's the word "honestly" for me. or more specifically, "honestly?". it's the new em dash.

It just occurred to me there's an even bigger missed opportunity with the rankings. Because every "survey question" is a 1 to 1 comparison between two concepts, the most interesting thing would be to see how different concepts stand up to each other. And perhaps also how consistent people are throughout their answers, and maybe how that correlates to trends in their choices.

The context or description shown for each "industry" is a massive injection of bias.

For example, Cannabis is "Cannabis cultivation, dispensaries, and marijuana-related businesses", while Sugary Food & Beverage are "Products associated with obesity, diabetes, and health concerns". So if you think there is also a positive side to sugar, the context makes it clear you are voting for the negative side. But the negative sides of Cannabis are left out of the context, so you're more likely to be neutral or positive about it.

Another example is Environmental Polluters, which are "Industries with major pollution, emissions, or environmental damage". And you also have Chemical Manufacturing, which is "Industrial chemical production and hazardous material processing". But there is no such thing as a "pollution and hazards" industry. So what are we voting for as "worst" here? Nitrogen and Cement? Industry in general?

And the rankings are just an ordered list, completely opaque. With all the overlap between the options, there has to be something actually interesting to do with the data.

Trump's second presidency is the best possible evidence that no one is driving the world in secret from behind the scenes.

This is my pet peeve.

I don't know the show, but when I first watched this clip (under the title of "greatest shot on television") I totally bought in to the hype and thought it really was amazing. You start out just walking alongside him, and only slowly realize where you are and what is about to happen, and everything is perfectly timed and composed: he ends his walk, reaches the conclusion of his explanation, and you realize what is going on, all at the exact time the launch begins. Brilliant!

Except that this is not "a shot" at all. I just hadn't noticed on my first watch that there's a very obvious cut just at the end of the "walk". It's a different angle from a different location at a different time of day, and he just has one sentence to say before he looks back at the blast off.

It would be no different from any news reporter on location at the time, reading a prepared message ahead of the launch, timed to end before the launch itself with no need for extensive rehearsals, the launch timing is widely broadcast, you time yourself accordingly with your talking speed, by adding pauses, etc. And on top of everything they probably had to do it live too.

I have no issue with James Burke or his show. And this scene is really beautifully done. But it's not the greatest shot in television. It's not even one shot!

This thing is from 2012. It's a set of printable models for toy parts that allow interconnecting with a bunch of different construction toys, like Lego and K'nex.

I remember thinking this was pretty subversive and cool back then. My own experience in 3D printing since that time has taught me that there is no way that these parts can ever be printed accurately enough to actually work. It didn't get much traction on the Thingiverse files either.

> I hope every Hitler-apologist and Holocaust-denier says and believes things like that.

You’re right - he’s only a Hitler apologist and holocaust denier when it suits him. He’s not consistent about it.

He’ll tell this story to demonize current-day Palestinians and justify the violence done daily to them. He doesn’t just “advocate” for violence, he personally directs it, and he tells stories like this to make of worse.

He tells the other stories you mentioned to capitalize Jewish victimhood, silence critics, and distract from Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians, which have nothing to do with any of this.

> These are some examples of what Holocaust denial and revisionism typically sound like.

Not really. Both quotes from Abbas are very tame. They make him about as much a holocaust denier as Bibi is.

At any rate, they don’t make him or the Palestinian people any less of a partner for peace.

And even mentioning Abbas’ views on the holocaust, in the context of the subjugation, persecution and extermination of his own people for over a decade, is so incredibly cynical and cruel and pathetic, it should tell you everything you need to know about Israel’s position in the conflict.

FYI, the Israeli socialists and left wing have always supported policies of militarist expansionism and the occupation.

When there was still a left wing in Israel, the left wing governments built more settlements than the right wing ones.

> The plan from the start was to take over the area for jews

This is true.

But denying Palestinians of any agency or fault is wrong. They made mistakes too. And if it’s wrong for Netanyahu to support Hamas, isn’t it just as wrong for any Palestinian to support them too?

Part of the problem for Israel is that it is becoming harder and harder to convince the world of its version of the “truth”.

And unrelated to that, Benjamin Netanyahu is about as truthful a man as Donald Trump is.
