Site looks okay so far. Is this just for movies? What's the feature that sets it apart from IMDB or rottentomatoes.com? I see there is a user karma, but I don't see what it's based off of other than ...contributions?
Anyway, looks like some potential here if you can get a user base, but I don't really get the benefit of joining or coming back on a regular basis.
I avoid using my phone for anything other than phone since "upgrading". At first I thought it was just the developer build, but no. It's just unusable.
Yeah, pretty much a desire to learn it and not get too frustrated if things don't go your way at first. I'm still learning too, but there are some good tutorials out there. Here are a few links:
Having tried Haiku a few weeks ago, I will say it has a lot of potential. The fact that is has a HIG (human interface guidelines) means it could actually go beyond a hobby OS. I'd like to see some more developers get behind this and see where it goes.
Tried it out. Seems like a solid start, but noticed some things that bugged me.
Your main div is not actually centered for me, your logo could use some work (anti aliasing the circle portion), and you could maybe make us of gzip. Also, 11 br tags are not a good way of positioning your footer.
I prefer the idea of simplifying, or removing registration altogether. The only times registration will stop me from using a site is if I don't trust them with my email/password, and if that's the case, then the site probably sucks anyway.
Make a site worth coming back to, and I don't think people mind having to login (if you have a good "remember me" feature).
There are a few math books in the "Head First" series (which I always love). Those might serve more as refreshers for most people, but for a true math noob (like me), they have really helped.
OP here. First off, I see a lot of the comments have a very similar theme. 5 months is too soon to give up. Well, I haven't given up, I've only decided there is no business model without overhauling the concept (which I am not prepared to do for the moment).
I have watched traffic, and the habits of the users. The bounce rate could be lowered by tweaking some things, but there is not enough to bring users back on a weekly, or even monthly basis. I am open to suggestions, and will continue to watch my traffic. I have too many other decent ideas to sink more time into a fun site that has no business model (and don't tell me ad-supported is a valid option).
I think it's needed, and I'd be for it. Should have quick references to algorithms, and some vector math, and intro physics for the people wanting to do game dev.
