Exactly ! The social stuff requires a network effect... hilarious that the makers of Facebook bet their chips on the same bet as their existing products. Apple knows it doesn't need groups of people to use this together, just enough early adopters to help pay for (and more importantly help guide) the user research and material advancement.

Write offs isn't the right word here. It's a partial tax offset for purchasing manufacturing equipment. The tax itself is already high, so the partial exemptions on that tax isn't some give away.

Which ones specifically? The only two I know of are: - The low/zero emission car rebate that Toyota and every other manufacturer has used. - The clean energy manufacturing tax write off that applies to over a hundred other companies.

I don't think California has given Elon any significant subsidies. When Tesla asked states to compete on the Gigafactory, California lost to Nevada.

wait... a $2,000 bike that only shows does bike workouts is fine, but a $150 device to stream entertainment and now fitness is too much? You can always just attach a HDMI cable to your phone or tablet (via converter) if you really want to.

Pathetic... why not take the ~20% of drivers who put in 35h+ a week and make them employees to keep their service running and help their customers? ... Oh right because they can instead inflict pain 75 days before the carveout ballot measure they wrote.

They aren't the innocent victims of gov't overreach for us to venerate. They stonewalled participation in writing a better AB5, because they want no rules but their own.

IMHO This would be a great time for TESLA to spin up a 100% employee based human driving service in California and gobble up the demand.
