Yes and I'll become another space industry. Cleanup. Sort of like how (coal/ocean/etc) pollution is both a problem and multi billion dollar a year industry.

They did and it used to take a lot of planning, using paper maps, getting lost etc.

Just like once people didn't use electricity or vaccines or indoor plumbing. For all its minuses the internet makes these long trips 10x easier.

The new satellites are like 100x better.

This is the right answer. They are building their own cell phone network to compete with major carriers worldwide.

They compared AT&T users with an iPhone (the only place you could get an iPhone) to users with other carriers.

Since people using other carriers also experienced 2008, it's not that.

Population of Switzerland is around 9 million people. Slightly larger than NYC.

Comparing a country with the population of a single city in America is disingenuous. There are probably some cities in America that have faster internet than Switzerland.

Looking at a few friend's health app on their iPhone it's amazing to me to see people who walk less than 2,000 steps a day and don't go to the gym. It's shockingly normal in some places though.

That only works if the rest of the parents in your neighborhood also do it. Otherwise your kid won't be in group chats, will miss events.

I live in Israel where kids are given a phone at an extremely young age (partially because of the security situation). Teachers give homework over WhatsApp, schools announce changes to the schedule, etc.

What I'm saying is it's almost not just up to you anymore, it really depends on your circumstances.

This is by far the best solution and should be the top comment.

Why is the onus on the parents to chase after their kids - screen time is awful and kids get around it.

The social media and porn sites should be penalized and the onus should be on them. Just like when we were kids, the channel couldn't show certain content like nudity and cursing or they'd be fined.

How is it suddenly the obligation of the parent to supervise a million options with horrible interfaces.

My 7 year old came home crying the other day because every single person in her class has a phone except her.

I can't imagine taking it away from my older kids (14,11). They use it to chat with friends and play games with them, do homework together, make plans and share common experiences and videos.

It's not as simple as you think. You have no idea how shitty screentime is how much of a cat and mouse game it is. It's pretty easy with a two year old, you just wait and see though...

Your response is incredibly ignorant. You force your kid to be excluded if they don't have a phone. They're disconnected from friends, group chat, and common experiences.

You don't have a problem with age verification for drivers license, or buying a gun, or buying alcohol. Why is social media so different?

Massie going against Trump is why he lost. Plenty of republican politicians are against Israel.

SpaceX is still only going to be a tiny percentage of the stocks you own in an index fund. It doesn't make sense to let this single article affect your decision making. It's obviously completely biased and cherry picking specifics (like the exact window of time you'd have needed to have a negative return in the stock market).

And spaceX was just denied fast index entry https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-06-04/s-p-dow-j...

This seems like it's because openAI actually partnered with Microsoft and has to give them 20% of their revenue. Anthropic isn't partnering with their cloud providers so it makes sense to me they count top line revenue and then give Amazon payment as an expense. Also the numbers seem pretty minor compared to anthropic $49B run rate. The article mentioned an openAI payment of around $500M.

They bought insta and WhatsApp but at the time neither were really social networks. Insta was a popular filtering app. WhatsApp is just recently turning into a social network with their status updates.

Inference has dropped by like 75% from a year ago. While anthropic does offer more tokens now for the same money, the value of the business is based on an expectation of future profits. There are dozens, if not hundreds of examples of companies being valued this way.

Same in Israel. Doctors, schools, etc all use WhatsApp. You can't live without it here.
