I would consider an offer from coinbase over FAANG now based solely on this move by their CEO. I say this as someone who has worked at Apple, and bluntly told multiple Facebook-email bearing recruiters to F off.
Meanwhile I can’t believe Apple went to the trouble of an entirely new FS without implementing BTRFS style block-level checksums. The number of data corruption issues this could have prevented by now are too high to count. Not to mention there is a direct monetary incentive for Apple to do so, as it slightly inflates storage requirements at the cost of safety (and apple commonly stratifies their products by storage capacity). It’s 2020, we need ECC RAM and block level checksums for all new platforms going forward.
I can say #1 has significantly impacted Swift feature adoption and SwiftUI conversion. SwiftUI 2 for example, the first really useable one IMO, requires iOS14 as your projects minimum.

Every thread for the past 10 years on this topic has explained this, yet every thread there’s some new person who stumbles in not knowing anything at all comparing the same tired numbers. Every thread someone corrects them, yet every next-thread will have another.
Thank god intel leadership fired so many in senior engineering to replace with H1B. Clearly that was a long term strategy aimed at success and not a short term cash grab to pump stock aka executive compensation.

The mods only have themselves to blame. They create insanely broad rules allowing them to ban anything and then limit mod positions to concentrate their power.
The role of mods is to delete off topic submissions and remove illegal content. Nothing more.
This is fantastic news. Social media mega corps chose this. They couldn’t resist the urge to censor their opposition and in doing so went from a platform to a publisher. Once you choose to censor non-illegal content you are implicitly endorsing all the other non-illegal content you fail to remove and therefore liable.
This should push these corrupt companies to either go full “endorsed contributor” (aka what blue check marks actually are) OR back to the “we remove only content which is illegal”. No more pretending to walk the line creating an “open community” that’s actually just an echochamber.
