I just wanted to say thanks for this book recommendation - "Mindfulness in Plain English". Learning and starting some basic meditation was one of my New Years Resolutions, but I didn't really know where to get started (even though I've been exposed to meditation before). I bought this book and it is a great practical guide.
Exactly. No matter the cause of WHY diamonds seem to be valued so highly in societal worth, the fact is, well, they are.
You COULD not get your wife a diamond ring, you COULD not take her out for Valentine's day because it's a made-up holiday, you COULD not get her a Christmas present because you think it's a commercial holiday, etc. But... well good luck with that.

In terms of database normalization, doesn't that usually require redundancy (repeated columns / records)? We have that once over two columns, but otherwise there are no repeats - each entry is unique.

The one thing I didn't quite like when I heard PG speak at one of YCombinator's events in NYC was his insistence that you need to move to the Valley in order to launch a successful startup. Even at a seed-stage, there's great funds out there (TechStars Network among others) that happily invest in people all over the country.

Excellent - I had seen this threads around, didn't realize there was a methodology to them (1st of every month). I will definitely be posting on the 1st, thanks for the suggestion.
We both have a very strong business background, and I actually launched a small socially minded enterprise internationally last year; also, we were able to prove that we can get stuff done as we had a prototype available by the time of our interview for the program.
Also, the incubator we are accepted into is industry-specific and not a general "tech" incubator like YCombinator (not that one is better than the other, YCombinator is awesome obviously, just that this was a better fit for us). Feel free to ask for more details if you'd like.
As someone who worked in the development world for a year, I can honestly say that if this vaccine pans out, it would be the biggest development in recent history and would change the livelihoods of so many individuals and families.
If this doesn't deserve a Nobel I'm not sure what does. Bravo Joe Cohen.
A solid alternative to working from an apartment is to find coworking spaces in your city. In Atlanta, myself and my cofounder work out of a place that has plenty of space, tables, printers, etc. and only costs $80/month/person. Also a great networking tool, as you meet other bootstrapping entrepreneurs!
Additionally, if your city has an entrepeneurship society or network of any kind, go for the food if nothing else - aside from meeting other entrepreneurship-minded people, nothing better than a free meal.
Thanks for the post, I read this in the Techstars book as well. I can't be reminded enough however to get a version 1.0 out there - this is especially timely for my startup, because we are about to begin beta testing, and it is EXTREMELY tempting to add "one more thing" before the beta.
