Love how I get down votes for the truth. If your bank refuses for any reason to give you access to your account you probably lose your job, your apartment, loans ...it will ruin your life for good. Happens to lot of people, its no mystery. In Western Europe you can't even have a normal average legal life without a bank account, that is why they had to introduce laws to force the banks to give everybody an account, because before banks often refused to do so and then peopl where stuck and their situation spiraled down the drain.

The Global poverty might be lower, but at the same time there are more people in poverty since the middle class is dying out on every continent. Pretty sure the average American/European has more debt and is worse off than 30-40y ago.

Capitalism is based on debt/interest, which by definition is broken and only follows a downward spiral.

That is how startups in America work: a) take any idea b) find enough believers c) throw money at the problem until it either works out or fails.

I mean are those people for real? It's like watching 5y olds playing monopoly

How about: If you need millions investment for your idea then your idea is just BAD (except you are building Teslas maybe)

Maybe because except for the 1% most of the population feels the negative effects of it? Doesn't take a genius to see how broken the system is

In our 6 week summer holidays we did the following: 1 week visit grandparents, 1-2 weeks other vacation, rest time spending time outside, building treehouses, playing in the mud, doing stupid things, chilling at the lake, going swimming, bike tours, camping with friends. <-- my summer in a box. America really has an issue with stressing out their children with education and extra curriculums

I don't find calculus and lin alg very interesting, school ruined those for me forever I guess. I am mostly interested Logic and Information Theory but I guess the latter doesn't go with a good calculus base.

Thanks for the links, I will read the book of proof and try the exercises, though mostly studied those topics already.

Does anybody know a good guide on where to begin? Resources are not the issue here, but usually the overwhelming amount of information regarding all those topics and areas of mathematics. I was always very interested but got discouraged rather quickly, even after a semester at university. So far my favorite access to math was through philosophy.

I learned to be grateful and enjoy the small things in life, to worry less, to calm my mind (which is still a challenge) and to not overthink everything.

It sounds very generic, but putting in words how your character changed is not so easy, I figure I'd have to ask family/old friends.

Very similar story yes, nearly identical actually, I also had issues with anxiety and depression before I left, it was one of the reasons.

I am still traveling (usually switch country every 1-3 months) and freelancing/RemoteWork earning 3 times what I made before and enjoying being my own boss :) And no, I am not a coder/programmer, but IT field, which makes this remote work thing obviously much more easy.

Quit my "dream job", sold/gave away everything I owned, just hopped on a plane to a new continent (Wednesday last day at work, Thursday morning flight went) and see how it goes. First week I sat mostly alone around at some beach, contemplating about what I had done and whether it was the stupidest thing ever. It was a personal challenge. Best decision of my life. That was nearly 3 years ago now.

One can only grow if faced with challenges. I learned a lot about myself and life.
