How do you deal with a corporation just moving their HQ to another state though? It is hard because you cannot just say oh we should only have a federal income tax because then states would just rely on the federal government for funding. At the same time the wealthy people/corporations can easily move to another state leaving the middle class to make up for lost revenue.

Isn't this the main complaint people had about cable packages though? People were tired of paying $100/mo and only watching 10 channels out of 150.

I came across a startup awhile ago that was handling the micropayments for you and you paid a monthly subscription fee which is similar to what you want. I think the main issue is getting every publisher to agree to onboard to your platform before you have sufficient scale of paying customers.

Curious what time period this was. For example, if you lived in Portland in 2019 and Seattle in 2023 it could just be inflation causing people to go out less.

It seems like the main feature is being able to access your home network to watch netflix, access LAN devices, etc.

How is this different compared to running a tailscale exit node in your home network?

Is the benefit of this that you have a hardware device that you can connect to instead of needing software like tailscale?

Is the idea that you would need less chemo after the tumor is broken up to remove any remaining cancer cells versus just starting out with chemo to remove the tumor?

Yeah I agree it is a lack of understanding on how to use the tools. The main issue I ran into in my undergrad FPGA class as a CS student was a lack of understanding on how to use the IDE. We jumped right into trying to get something running on the board instead of taking time to get everything set up. IMO it would have been way easier if my class used an IDE that was as simple as Arduino instead of everyone trying to run a virtual machine on their macbooks to run Quartus Prime.

Is a skill essentially a reusable prompt that is inserted at the start of any query? The marketing of Agents/MCP/skills/etc is very confusing to me.

The rise in the preventative screening centers (such as prenuvo) that offer whole body MRIs will be interesting.

The research seems split on if it is worth it or just causes unneeded worry. Obviously if you catch something early then that is great, but there are a lot of people who have a ton of followup testing only to find out there is no issue.

There are also limitations with the level of detail a full body MRI can capture.

I could see it becoming similar to a colonoscopy where you get it like when you turn 30 or something and then every 5-10 years after that.

Yeah, I have a feeling we will instead start exposing some /help api that the AI will first call to see all possible operations and how to use them in some sort of minified documentation format.

This is the first time I have heard of world models. Based on my brief reading it does look like this is the idea model for autonomous driving. I wonder if the self driving companies are already using this architecture or something close to it.

I have been part of a few migration projects like this. There is another issue apart from tests not existing. Business/Product still want new high priority features so developers keep adding new logic to the old system because they cannot be supported by the new system yet.

I have one and don't really use it for working remotely, but it really shines for media consumption. However, I agree with your points around it being heavy and not for everyone. The device definitely needs to be lighter, and most people wanting to use VR for media consumption could likely just buy a cheaper VR headset.

I think overall it probably remains a niche category. I don't see it becoming as popular as smart watches or anything like that. I do hope that Apple continues to invest in it though as it is a really cool technology.

if you want to invest in open ai I think you can just buy it on NASDAQ private markets.

As a java backend dev mainly working on web services, I wanted to like python, but I have found it really hard to work on a large python project because the auto complete just does not work as well as something like java.

Maybe it is just due to not being as familiar with how to properly setup a python project, but every time I have had to do something in a django or fast api project it is a mess of missing types.

How do you handle that with modern python? Or is it just a limitation of the language itself?

"Each merchant pays a small fee". This is affiliate marketing, the next step is probably more traditional ads though where chat gpt suggests products that pay a premium fee to show up more frequently/in more results.

I remember when the c++ edition came out, but have not really followed since then.

Are all of the servers/mods still written in Java and it was just the desktop client that was rewritten in c++? Or is there a division between Java mods and c++ mods?

Seems like it would be really useful in a hospital setting as well. Instead of having to wear the heart rate monitors, etc. during recovery or a stress test it could be wireless.

Might as well try, the worst that can happen is they say no or ignore your email.

I am a backend dev, and I needed a website that was temporary for an event. I thought to myself this would be a good opportunity to learn some frontend development.

After looking through the 20 different popular front end frameworks and getting confused by SSR, CSR, etc. I decided to use Nuxt. I thought oh this is great, Vue makes a lot of sense to me and this seems like it makes it easer to make Vue apps. I could not have been more wrong. I integrated it with Supabase + Vercel and I had so many random issues I almost scrapped the entire thing to just build it with squarespace.

With so much money flowing into the massive funds, do you think more and more unicorn startups will just stay private? It seems like there are liquidity opportunities for employees/founders via tender offers, secondaries, etc.

If you are a profitable unicorn who can raise money in the private markets when needed, is there really a benefit to going public? Maybe I am missing something, but going public doesn't really seem to be as important as it used to be.
