This looks fine to me? In long threads it gets a bit hard to follow, only thing I'm missing is a jump to next root comment. https://i.imgur.com/8e1Syyf.jpeg
You also don't really need LLM's, we still have software engineers too. Everyone is focusing so heavily on the speed gain producing code, but in my experience clients of established products aren't really waiting for massive changes and gigantic features to be added. We aren't taking the time to think things through anymore.
So as a European, I'm being blocked from all new models apparently. I'm a big fan of using Claude Code for my sideprojects and for those I don't really care about sharing context. Is there aything that comes close to Claude Code and is still affordable?
I think the comparison TikTok and Philip Morris tracks. Both spent insane amounts of money and talent optimizing the bad choices the addict could make.
Same - but mine are open source in the sense that they're public on my own Forgejo instance. So no one's gonna bother with em, but technically they are open source.
One exception: I was using an opensource Jellyfin client called findroid but the maintainer had been busy for a long time so a lot of features I wanted had stale PR's. Instead of bugging him I forked & renamed the project and together with Claude built in all the features I personally needed. Just keeping up with upstream now and enjoying my enhanced app. Once the initial dev gets those features in I might switch back. Claude made this really easy. If the maintainer wants my code he's free to take it. Here's the repo https://github.com/midasvo/findroid-ce
I actually got an email from someone who was using it who found a pretty bad bug I hadn't encountered yet and I quickly fixed it. All that time I was still under the impression I was the only user haha.
Great news. Would have been devastating to have such an integral part of our society at the whims of not just another nation, but an unstable and downright hostile one.
It's genuinely hilarious how the same leadership pushing for RTO because getting people together creates magic, seems to have no issues trading those same people out for LLM's churning at specs.
n=1 but i don't really discover new projects via github, it's mainly here, reddit, or via colleagues. then again, i selfhost forgejo so don't have a real presence on github
Same - also installed a forgejo runner via docker so i've got CI. Forgejo has it's own artifactory/registry so the apps I make get a docker image and I just run that docker image. All on my own hardware.
This and the idea of creating some sort of english-adjacent programming language for LLM's is fun, I guess, but what problem is it solving. Do we really need to go an abstraction higher?
Renovate (dependabot equiv I think) creates PRs, I usually walk through them every morning or when there's a bit of downtime. Playing with the idea to automerge patches and maybe even minor updates but up until now it's not that hard to keep up.
My dad uses Gemini because it's the default thingy on his android phone - I asked him if he used ChatGPT and he said yes and navigated to Gemini. Most people really don't care that much I think.
Quitting smoking was the best decision I made and I wish I did it earlier. If you feel ready Allen Carr's book worked for me. I wasted so much time smoking.
