Stanford is such a great resource. I've been watching some of their lectures from some very wise people in the business world on YouTube. Eye-opening insights, to be sure!
I think it means they'll get more of a say in the companies YC invests in, and they probably will get to share in the profits of such investments. Much more involvement than other roles.
I think it's priceless to be able to look your kids in the eyes and say we bought a car for our family that helps make the planet better for you when you grow up. And supporting a company that is trying to do that is well worth spending more.
Wow, that's tough. I have heard that when a biz scales, sometimes the early employees don't fit as well, because the skills needed are different than when first starting out. To get things going you do a lot of everything, and later they need specialists. How passionate are you about this startup? What does your co-founder think? You would think there could be some role you could fit into, maybe COO? Depending on its success I would hold your ground , or they should be willing to buy you out or something. Best wishes!
Great advice. When you're that young you barely know who you are, let alone figure out your life's calling. I'd just add that every step along your career journey (no matter how random or seemingly insignificant) will help you get there.
We make a lot of choices like that as a family too. Definitely makes a difference in our quality of life. We don't have cable, don't over-schedule our kids with lessons and sports they don't even like. What happened to just playing with the kids in the neighborhood until dark? ;)
I love the idea! I just had a hard time removing items from the list that I didn't want, and I couldn't find how to check out/pay for the items. I couldn't scroll over to see the right side of the site. Hope you carry more brands soon too! Best wishes! :)
Aww, thanks! I can definitely ship to New Zealand for you! I just figured out how to adjust the shipping prices accordingly. If it ends up being less that the stated price, we refund the difference. Thanks for pointing out something I really needed to address asap! :) Angie
Great perspective. I do feel like it's a bit of a slippery slope though. One should be proactive in life, and not just let things happen to you all the time. But when things are out of your control, you can choose how to react to them. Very helpful reminder.
That would be interesting to find out. I feel pretty refreshed after about 6 or 7 hours. I'm sure everyone's slightly different. It might depend on how active one is during the day too. If you ride your bike 10 miles to work and back every day, I'm sure you'd want/need more sleep than someone who works from home.
Great reminder. For me, not worrying about getting a degree freed me to take the classes that interested me the most, and all of them are helping me build my company. I'm looking forward to teaching my boys that if they never fail, they're not doing much at all to challenge themselves.
So true! I know when I don't get a decent night's sleep for more than two or three nights in a row, I get a LOT less productive. I lock myself out of my car, forget important things I had to do. It's terrible. An occasional melatonin supplement has been a lifesaver when I just can't turn my brain off, obsessing over my startup.
