shazam for face recognition? Sometime when you see a movie, you can't make out who stars in it. take a quick picture and shazam it away to get the actor / actress name!
I am one of this kind like you. :) I do not get tablets as well, but I own one (Nexus 7 2013).
To me, tablet is like a bigger screen version of a phone, it performs exactly like a phone (without telephony).
I own an iPhone 5 and I prefer iOS vs Android, but I opted to get Nexus 7 (and not iPad Mini) because
1. price of N7 is so cheap (bought one at mid $100s for 32 GB). Android tablet is much cheaper, you can literally buy 2 refurb N7 for the price of 1 refurb iPad Mini with Retina.
2. to read books and magazines (it is not convenient to read books/magazine using laptop and to read on an iPhone, it's too small). Kindle or any other e books can be read with an app that exists on both iOS and Android.
Thanks for the input. I have thought about it, but due to their instability, I am not sure if I would want to use bitcoin. Also the fact that most normal people may not know bitcoin, so it's not as convenient.
I heard of dwolla before, but I have not really reading into it until now.
It appears dwolla is connecting payment to user bank account, hence ability to avoid ~3% cc payment.
Does dwolla support international currency (or integration with many countries local bank)? I am looking for this option for international users that do not have credit card and want to use their local non USD bank account to pay in USD.
As I understand, Paypal integrates their system deeply with many local banks around the world, hence high rate of user adoption as it allows them to use their bank fund to pay anyone anywhere using almost any currencies + to avoid credit card foreign transaction fee.
Rather than employ the candidate with salary and minimum stock, why don't ask him to join as a co founder with decent share? With that, you will have someone who can own up as his share value and wealth also depends on his performance.
when you use a lawyer to draft your ToS, then if your company is sued because of ToS that the lawyer provide, is the lawyer for any lawsuit that comes with the ToS? and lets say if your company lost a lawsuit due to ToS, who will be liable for it? and who is going to pay the damage or settlement?
I am thinking it's the lawyer who may have to pay because your company paid the lawyer to draft the ToS and he was not competent if such case happens. But I am not sure, hence the question.
NOTE: I am not a lawyer. This is not a legal advise.
I am also in the same situation as yours as I am working on a peer to peer marketplace.
I am afraid of the lawsuit and liability. I think for starter, you can do DBA first, then if your business makes money (meaning it gets traction) and as soon as you get $800 revenue to pay tax, then you can go LLC to protect yourself. Why spend $800 on overhead (tax) if you don't know if your apps are going to make you money?
I think this is what I am going to do (unless there is a big liability on DBA)
Can anyone recommend good insurance for business that I can start looking at?
Thank you for your response. What confused me is why one payment processor (Stripe) would not allow it while others (in your example, BrainTree) is OK with it.
My question is that if this 3rd party aggregation policy is just custom made for each payment gateway (means they make their own policy), or is it legally bound by the US law?
I want to make sure that I do not break any laws here.
Thank you for your input.
PS: also I notice some marketplaces like zaarly or airbnb has some kind of insurance for protection / safety while other marketplaces do not. If I want to offer insurance or some kind of protection, how should I start? I tried to find information on google, but probably due to my limited knowledge on this area, I do not find information that is relevant.
I see. Thank you for your input. Yes, currently I am starting it on my own and of course, I prefer to use an end to end solution rather than build it myself.
Can you recommend someone who has done the hard work? Is it Balance Payments as ig1 said?
Yes, the startup I am working on is a marketplace matching buyers and sellers. buyer pays the seller service fees to my site, then the site holds the money until it's done, then site payout the seller minus the site commission. so it's similar to odesk or zaarly fee structure.
I can do it this way, or if not, have buyer pays the seller directly and then I charge seller the % monthly.
How do I payout using other alternative like wire transfer or mailed check if I use Balanced Payments?
how do I get insured to ensure I am covered for fraud or other risks? I am not familiar with these side of entrepreneurship, the legality of running an online marketplace.
I asked the bank rep about if they open up their backend API for payout processing. Most came back to me with '??'. lol. what exactly should I ask them?
Do banks have their API open for us to do payout?
oh yeah, from my investigation, I found that wells fargo has the best fee, 0 fee if i have checking and savings acc and do monthly transfer between them.
SEEKING FREELANCER - Web designer and/or content writer
Looking for a web designer to help design my web project. I am looking for a web designer first than a front end developer. So I prefer designers who can code than developers who can design a little bit.
Also looking for someone who can write good website content like FAQ, how it works, help, about us, etc.
Please message me at rush.tea AT gmail DOT com with your portfolio and the details.
Since I can not uninstall iOS map, so if you can only pick one, you choose Waze over GMaps? Or GMaps and Waze are more complimentary for each other?
Thanks.
