For agile story tracking and development pipeline management, Pivotal Tracker. Lots of great features for team productivity and health tracking, also helps as you automate your workflow. For general tasks and individual workflow, Trello. By far my favorite UI and delightful experience in using for simple workflow management using a kanban style (which plays a large role when you use it regularly). Trello is less useful the more team members that join and the more complex the workflow you need to manage.

It is probably both. The primary reason for healthcare cost growth is price not utilization (refer to work from IHME, others), but there also have to be appropriate incentives in place such as exist in ACOs to ensure quality care is delivered cost effectively. Agree that value based care by itself may not be the answer, just look at the way drug companies claim to price medications based on value such as Gilead’s Sovaldi curing Hepatitis C.
Our tech stack: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, JavaScript (React), AWS EC2/S3 (via Aptible), Travis CI
We are a team of technologists, designers, doctors, and healthcare professionals on a mission to transform the US healthcare system into a high performance system so that affordable, high quality care is available to all. The Center is a startup nonprofit healthcare innovation lab with a significant initial endowment ($200M). Our advisory board includes healthcare and technology experts including everyone from Bill Gates to Toby Cosgrove.
We believe the biggest lever for reducing cost and improving quality of care is through changing the behavior of healthcare professionals. Our first focus area is on primary care, and we have built out an initial software-enabled service to help practice managers introduce evidence-based workflow changes, see the impact these changes have on metrics that matter to the practice, and sustain these changes over time (think of it almost like teaching the agile process to healthcare professionals).
We are looking for a hands-on tech lead/manager (http://petersonhealthcare.org/careers/software-engineering-t...) to be the anchor of our engineering team as we grow our headcount in the next year. A passion for improving the healthcare industry and driving positive social impact is a huge plus.

Interview process:
- 45 phone conversation
- 3 hour in person pairing tech screen
- Half day with team
Part of this can be solved by having better care managers associated with each patient (primary care doctors), who can share relevant information with different parties. Works mainly for chronic care. In the case of acute cases, information needs to be readily accessible in a format that is interpretable by doctors when they go through the process of assessing differential diagnoses. That information is not captured well right now, hence the ask for patient's history with each new physician. Personal health records with smart annotation of key pieces of information can play a part in solving this problem, but are only part of the answer. One of the most dangerous periods in the emergency room is the transition of one care team shift to another. It takes forever, and often leads to key information loss.
Multiple on Series B valuation is 6x, post money valuation for that round was $350M. C round post money valuation was $1.2B (led by Roche, also the acquirer). Not sure what preferences were, but investors owned less than 50% at the C round. Data from PitchBook. Congrats to the team!

We solve a variety of problems, but one example is physician burnout, especially in primary care. We've implemented technology enabled behavior change initiatives that help primary care practices implement and maintain evidence-based habits like team based care and ensuring staff operate at the top of their license meaning more time with patients and less time with paperwork for physicians and creating a more sustainable environment. There are other areas we address in primary care like patient access to care, quality care gaps and more that we break into smaller chunks. Our overall focus is on dramatically improving the performance (quality of care, cost) of the healthcare system piece by piece at an increasing pace, starting with primary care and eventually moving to different focus areas like high need patients.
We are taking a technology driven approach to improving the US healthcare system at the Peterson Center on Healthcare, our goal is to improve the quality of healthcare accessible to all, reduce the total cost of care our system bears, and improve the experience of healthcare professionals delivering this care.

Our current stack is Ruby on Rails, Elasticsearch, AWS, PostrgreSQL, React, Python
You: ideally 4-6+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, tinkerer / hacker who is passionate about improving the healthcare industry, and can work with a diverse team (design, product, healthcare system, clinical, etc.). We can be stack agnostic, as long as you are a technologist at heart.
Us: We're a healthcare technology driven nonprofit accelerating the spread of cost-saving, quality improving care models across the US health system an order of magnitude faster than it currently takes to scale an innovation (17 years). Our first focus is on primary care: making primary care physicians' and their staff's lives easier, while creating meaningful ROI for health systems that own these practices in a value-based world and ultimately better care for patients.
Product: Our product will be used to reform the existing system from the inside out through a combination of facilitated behavior change with a gamified user experience, data automation and feedback, recommender systems and personalization (ML models, NLP, etc.), network support and more. Think Coursera x Trello x D3.js for healthcare.
