> A decent response would have been for the car to simply refuse to continue the ride rather than kidnapping the ne'er-do-wells.

It seems that's what exactly what they did? Except also called the police which seems the responsible thing to do when dropping drunk kids off somewhere

Profitability is never a constraint for Elon companies. He has always been able to be able to extract money from the middle east, government, banks, retail investors (or these same parties through his other companies) whenever they need more.

His net worth is orders of magnitude bigger than the cumulative profits his companies have ever produced (even if you only count the profitable quarters)

This has also one of the arguments against AC in France, shame on you for wanting to moving the hot air from inside to outside.

Google has been bleeding talent for decades, though few people have ever heard of them before they left google. Like when John Giannendra left it was the first time I'd ever heard of him but it was made out like he was a key person and big blow for Google. Every self driving car company came out of ex Google people as well, same w/OpenAi. The thing is Google research orgs have always been much bigger than any competitors, they'll be shedding people forever but there's a lot more where that came from

The whole IPO was designed to be like a short squeeze where index funds have to buy soon but there's not enough shares. For the little float that's available they are weighting it significantly more than they should by previous rules. They need to have tens of billions worth of what was 70 billion by next week, and retail investors who got in on the IPO were told by their brokers if they sell early on they will not get to participate in future IPOs.

There were not enough shares actually trading for the index funds to fulfill their requirements that's why the price keeps going up

There's not enough shares being traded to meet the requirements of the index funds. This is exactly why they had the rules of about having enough float and not being added to the indeces right away. the people who waived those rules need to be held accountable when this pops.

Brokers told retail they couldn't participate in future IPOs if they sell, funds have 15 days to get a hold of a certain percent of their holdings worth of shares, but it's more than there are available. So the shares that are available are going have to keep going up until they are worth the total amount that all the funds based on Nasdaq 100 need in their holdings.

This was designed to be a like a massive short squeeze right out of the gate, tons of forced demand chasing very few shares available.

People are well incentivized to gas him up or they don't want to cross his cultists so it's just easier to go along with it. Just listen to him talk with confidence about something you know about and extrapolate rather than trusting what someone else is saying about him.

Elon or his cousins will have to start a new company with some fresh funding soon he is running out of opportunities to merge one company into another together with ever worse financials and ever better valuations.

Maybe it can be a teleportation company? Imagine the TAM for that.

It'll end in suicide or OD. Every time he pulls off a coup like forcing huge indices to buy and hold massive amounts of $80 billion float he delays the inevitable but in the end his puffery will collapse at some point.

I feel second hand embarrassment for all the bankers and analysts who have felt the need to pump this

> 19 years later, it's probably time to be pragmatic again

These 2 have always been very pragmatic. They compete in an area or two but there is also a lot of money flowing both ways.

Probably because Elon said it's better. Same reason some people own a cybertruck

It's not just the scrolling, the posting side too. They all randomly boost one of your posts so suddenly tons of feedback (especially noticable when I tried threads) and then you try to get that back again. The uncertainty keeps you at it

I remember they successfully got Google out of a military contract in the first admin (and briefly vilified by the right for that). that's not going to work now. Workers have a lot less power and the CEO is buddies with Trump

This is just the first step eventually we will be just like the Culture novels that Elon skimmed through the Wikipedia summaries of.

We are slightly delayed on the first Mars trips timelines that were supposed to have happened already but the overall timeline of being all over the universe at some point in the future is still perfectly on track.

This is an economic opportunity in the quintillions you would be stupid not to give Elon billions to be a part owner. Keep in mind like in all of his businesses no one else could ever do this, there is 0 competition only what his companies do matter and if you don't believe that GFY

Where do people find this optimism? I reckon when the software jobs fall everything else will follow shortly too. That's just the first target because it's what we know and the manual stuff is a little harder for now. The "good news" is everyone might be in the same boat so the system will have to adapt,

Nothing will happen. He got off with nothing for directly saying from his own account "Funding secured" on Twitter in a much less nakedly corrupt environment
