A dedicated EVSE is recommended in countries with a nominal 230v mains voltage as they offer improved safety, higher power levels and improved control.

A UK “13A” socket is only rated for 10A continuously which gives around 2.2kW. Whereas a single phase EVSE will do 7.7kW. If you have 6hrs of off-peak electricity that’s 13.2kWh vs 46.2kWh.

A standard socket is fine for the occasional top up or if you cannot install an EVSE, but it is severely limiting unless you are charging every day.

This depends on the individual piece of wood. Bog oak can be incredibly tough as the fossilisation process has started and the minerals from the water deep into the wood.

Replacing the water with resins isn’t needed as the original shape won’t be retained (unlike a ship or relic). Care must be taken during the drying process to avoid warping though.

I grew up in the Fens and it every few years a farmer would uncover a piece of bog oak and leave it at the edge of a field.

Level 2 chargers stop at 7kW for single phase and 22kW for 3 phase. That’s fine for home or destination charging but woefully inadequate for long trips.

Beyond that you need to switch to DC chargers that go directly into the battery pack. This is where it starts to get complicated as different battery architectures need different voltages and max currents.
