They seemed to say that a special software hack was required to block the wifi, so i was wondering why the obvious physical hacks were not worth it.

I’m surprised that opening the router and physically disabling the wifi antenna is not a solution. I would understand that running the router in a faraday cage is not viable as the ethernet cable has to get from the router to the dish.

Have you looked at the robots out of boston dynamics? They look more mobile than a lot of non-handicapped people. Maybe another avenue is smart physical assistants instead of just exoskeletons, "i, Robot (2004)" style.

What about an exoskeleton with retractable wheels, that had motion powered or rollerblade style? I remember seeing a video of a robot that switched from quadruped/hexapod walking motion to sway like a rollerblade / skater.

i would guess “anything but english”, and German is more spoken in the EU than french.

OP is describing the logical reason for english, i’m presenting the emotional reasons against it.

I have nothing against op’s well written and documented comment but it is describing the status quo.

it’s like saying cobol is the most used programming language, why use java or python?

I’m french and most of the content i watch is also in english, made mostly by americans with an american point of views and ways of resolving problems. Sometime in british english with british point of view.

I think it’s sad that that you don’t seem to realize that it’s a problem that most of the content we are exposed comes from a single culture.

As for the move, it’s totally useless, and if they wanted to be strongest against english they should have said “we’ll only accept communication in french or german” but that would have meant most of the communications would have been in german.

I think embracing english as the main language of the EU is the worst idea since Brexit. It’s anything but neutral. It’s a concession made to the brits and a trojan for the Americans. They left, they can f right off and take their piss poor excuse of a language with them. It works for programming, insults and not much else. If they hadn’t joined the EU to sabotage it, maybe english wouldn’t be as popular in the EU.

Let’s force the 3 letter agencies to improve their deep learning NLP models for other languages.

Nobody speaks it in the EU, but if we’re going with popular languages i also don’t think mandarin would be an appropriate language.

I’m french and I think there should be a common EU language, and for political purpose it should a truly neutral language, like Esperanto or another novlang.

(Or maybe french should become the lingua franca of the EU if French official communications to the EU could only be in German)

Latin is rooted in catholicism, which is anything but neutral in terms of history and human rights.

Let’s level the playing field a bit, there is enough english in the world.

[this post made in english, and I write most often in english because nobody reads french compared to english]

What Pidgin user(s) could possibly be worth that much?

Are there some activist or terrorist monitored by a 3 letter agency that is computer literate enough to use Linux + pidgin to try and keep away from prying eyes (or just plain ethical reasons)? Or would the exploit end up being targeted at some foreign government that has standardized on Pidgin?

Don't they have to buy stock to exit the position? How do you sell a "short position" that is hemorrhaging money?

(genuinely curious, I'm learning about this to distract myself from covid-19)

The gamma squeeze also works going down, if they had to load shares on the way up they have to unload on the way down, accentuating a down trend.

When you drive the price of the stock up you increase the interests the short have to pay on the shares they borrowed to sell, or maybe increase the capital requirements they need to maintain this position on their books, reducing their upside.

If the interests or the capital requirements for maintaining the position get too high, or the owners of the shares want them back, they might have to exit their position, "no matter the cost" hence the "squeeze" part.

(I'm writing it down to see if I understood it all correctly)

I am wondering the same.

Maybe everybody is kinda hoping for the short squeeze? WSB is to stick it to the man but the other market participants?

The stock is shorted above 100%. If the price goes up enough, maybe the shorters will be have to exit their position and then will be the one left bagholding?

It really depends at which price they started the short. $8, $20 $350 $450?

But the puzzle is that "retail" is only a third of the market. a lot of the after hour kept it above 300 on Thursday and on Friday, and that is not the John Q Public doing those trades, so the big fish seem to be in agreement that it might be worth a try to go for the squeeze?

The WSB crowd complaining about the "ladder attack" (short selling the stocks between themselves at lower and lower prices to drive down the price), misinformation on CNBC, being prevented from being able to buy the stock on various broker (thus prevented from driving the price up and causing the gamma squeeze to cause the short squeeze) "it was supposed to be a free market and we can't trade as freely as the billionaires" which, fair complaint I guess.

For exemple Robinhood mostly getting out of the GME trading business because it was too hot and they ran out of credit with their clearing house, preventing their users from participating in the market.

In rsk everybody is at a roughly similar technological level. it really depends on things like technological level difference (ask the mayas and aztec) and philosophy, and if you're expanding as fast as you can, you can probably mobilize resources rather easily. Then you have philosophical difference: are you expanding to make friends, or just to gather resources for the hive queen?

Apparently retails traders were only 1/3rd of the transactions, and the stock went up on the aftermarket on thursday, so I don't think retail traders are driving this price _anymore_.
