it's not only binaries that are patched. Data files, which can be of multiple gbs are patched too. You can either delta patch them, requiring significant cpu time or replace them entirely. Most devs prefer the latter
democracies are sluggish, progress slowly, and also cause racial division sometimes. But I'd still never wish any country to devolve into any other form of governance
My employer used to have devs from service based companies working on contracts. Later they started cutting the amount of vendors and hiring good talent with attractive wages. The amount of stupid code I encountered when I joined was ridiculous, now that we have smarter engineers over here, everything works like a breeze.
Many here may not be aware of this but the tech landacape is quite different in India. Walmart actually has a major development center in Bangalore which attracts a lot of the top talent. No sane engineer in India who gets a job at any of Amazon,Flipkart,Walmart labs would even think of joining google india, a glorified testing centre
