From this title I expected author to engrave the lens in a clever way so the noise matters on all photos would form something like his digital signature, but alas
Why would you do that kind of destructive thing? A dead pixel or two in the right place is equivalent
I was thinking something similar but maybe on the sensor itself. LOL
Exactly. I expected some direct-to-matrix watermarking.
I have a serious collection of film cameras. I will never ruin the original design. If you have disposable digital camera that you love, go for this "personalisation". But why not focus on taking better pictures? This screams to much "hipster" for my taste.
We have a galvohead 20w laser 200x200mm
Great device. But ezcad is bad software.
Waiting for lightburn to support galvo.

If you want to see somebody doing it the old school way, check out J Bower Engraving. I haven't seen any camera in her work, but I bet she'd do stunning work on one if you paid her to:

This is way, way cooler than I thought it would be when I clicked the link. I assumed it would be name and contact info, but this is gorgeous.
Apparently, this is a thing with firearms, where custom engraved art can greatly enhance the sale price of the firearm.
This is a thing with musical instruments, where any custom art usually significantly reduces the sale price.
Yeah I'm not sure how it would affect cameras - if you wanted to part exchange the camera it could make it harder.
I am in full support of the creator economy.
Also, anti-theft? Encode a hidden message into the pattern... And it won't be easy to remove.
