It does seem like an opportunity on a silver platter for Chinese newcomers. Huge demand at the moment.

I just think of Steve Ballmer's ad for Windows 1.0 (1986)

"Order today! PO box 286 DOS... Except in Nebraska!"

Maybe the principal maintainer can be trusted, but pull requests could do with some of that evidence.

In that case they need to document the process and workflow, and demonstrate the care that was taken.

I wonder if anyone made an error correcting driver or file format for unreliable data storage like this. Did anyone ever implement RAId (redundant array of independent diskettes)? Edit: apparently RAR had an option to add internal error correction data to the archive, and you can also use PAR2 files for another layer (I think that's able to reconstruct the archive if one file is totally unreadable)

On plumbing, there are building codes that must still be followed. I think software engineering hasn't evolved to that stage yet where it's possible to assure quality.

That's just Artificial Artificial Intelligence, the triple negative implies they built an automated system to impersonate humans who impersonate an automated system (which ultimately imitates a human).

Aluminium is usually "good enough" relative to copper on both types of conductivity, and it soundly beats copper in terms of conductivity per unit weight (which is the metric of interest in many applications) and presumably in terms of material cost too. Copper is better if you want minimum physical size, though. (EDIT: Copper does have some durability advantages though which is another reason it's often favoured)

That's nice, like the brain switching to "home mode" maybe?

I'm thinking of an earlier time when computers ran on "facts and logic" and you could probably stop the machine by giving it a logical conundrum. Vibes-based systems are a lot more resistant to this, but can still be distracted.

Heat recovery ventilation is the answer to this. You also get the benefit of being able to filter it.

Even the concept "within that week" depends on whether you consider the week to begin on Monday or Sunday. (or elsewhere I suppose)
