100% to this!

You need to read the fine print when registered a ccTLD to ensure you meet their requirements and/or don't infringe on their stipulations of use/ownership.

The .ai TLD has some rules/restrictions most may not know about. Heck, some may not even know that TLDs like .ai (Anguilla), .io (British Indian Ocean Territory), .co (Colombia) and .tv (Tuvalu) are ccTLDs.

There is a very active aftermarket for domain sales. So I'm sure they would be able to sell off this asset. Not sure it would be in the millions. But definitely in the 6-figures (US$xxx, xxx) range.

That's one thing about premium domain names, even if the company fails, the domain name is still valuable and more often than note, appreciates in value with time.

The cost of high end domain names continues to increase. An example, both Connect.com and Chat.com sold for $10M+ in the last few years.

Here's a chart that outlines typical lifecycle of a domain name:

https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/gtld-lifecycle-2012-02...

Every registrar is required to allow the customer to renew the domain during the 45 day "Auto Renew Grace Period".

A caveat to this, some registrars will have in their terms that after 33 days the domain will be sent to an "expired domains" auction.

That said, since the domain is only a few days into the "Auto Renew Grace Period" you should still have the opportunity to renew the domain.

I've been working in the domain industry for 20+ years, feel free to reach out if you'd like me to take a look at this for you and offer guidance/assistance.
